SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 742,004, dated October 20, 1903.
Application filed July 31, I903.
To aZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, WILLIAM C. CARNEGIE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Cumberland Island,in'the county of Camden and State of Georgia, have invented certain new and usefulImprovements in Golf-Clubs; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of theinvention, such as will enable others skilled in the art'to which itappertains to make and use the same.
My invention relates to improvements in golf-clubs; and the object of my invention is to produce a simple device whereby an additional impetus may be given to the ball just at the moment when the golf-club strikes the ball. With these objects in view my invention consists of the construction and combinations of parts, as hereinafter described and claimed.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure l is a perspective View showing my invention as applied to the hands of the user, and Fig. 2 is a perspective view of my invention.
04 represents an ordinary golf-club. To the handle of this golf-club is secured in any suitable way elastic material I), terminating in a loop 0. In use the right hand of the user is thrust through the loop, which then encircles his right wrist, the figures showing my invention as it would be used by a right-handed man. For a 1eft-handed man the positions would be reversed.

In actual use the hand of the user is thrust through the loop 0, which then encircles his right wrist. As the club is drawn back to give the blow the elastic material is stretched, and as it strikes just at the moment when the club strikes the ball it gives an additional impetus thereto.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is-
1. A striking implement provided with elastic material directly attached to the handle thereof, said elastic material being adapted to be engaged by the wrist of the user, substantially as described.
2. A golf-club provided with elastic material directly secured to the handle thereof, said elastic material being adapted to be engaged by the wrist of the user, substantially as described.
3. A golf-club provided with elastic mate rial secured to the handle thereof, said elastic material terminating in a loop, substantially as described.
