Description

No. 648,336. Patented Apr. 24, I900. F. A. BELLAMY.

GAME.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent NO. 648,336, dated April 24, 1900. Application filed $eptember 23, 1899. Serial No. 731,501. (No model) BELLAMY, a subject of the Queen of Great Britain and Ireland, residing at No. 29 Streatham High road, in the county of Surrey, England, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Games; and I do declare thefollowing to be afull, clear, and exact description of the same, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the figures on the accompanying drawings, which form a part of this specification.
its angular relation to the ball when struck.
My invention relates to games.
The game for which my apparatus is more particularly adapted is similar to the game of golf, and I have termed it golfette :or parlor golf, although other titles may of course be given to the same.
The principal feature of the invention consists of a finger attachment adapted to be used for the same purpose that a golf stick, club, or flicker is used.
In the drawings, Figures 1 and 2 show different methods of using the finger attachment. Fig. 3 is a side View of the attachment, and Fig. 4: is a perspective view of the same.
This finger attachment consists of a ring or other clip attachment to. the finger of the player, havinga blade secured thereto which projects from the ring at substantially the angle thereto illustrated in the drawings. This angular disposition of the blade with respect to the axis of the ring permits its use for both lofting and putting. When used for lofting, the blade faces forwardly or in the position upon the finger illustrated by Fig. 1.
When it is used for putting or driving, it is placed upon the finger in the position shown by Fig. 2.
1 represents the part of the golf stick or club which is secured to the finger. It is pref 'erably ring-shaped and split at 2 to form a held upon the finger.
3 is the blade of the attachment. 4 is the front face, and 5 the rear face, of the same.
When the front face 4 isused, the effect in striking the ball is to loft or lift it over the bunkers or other obstructions, owing to When the rear face 5 is used by reversing the device upon the finger, the ball is put or driven. I
The attachment is preferably slipped upon the second or middle finger, which finger is bent inwardly and caught by the thumb. The thumb releases the finger under tension when the device is thrown smartly forward against the golf-ball in making the various plays.
What I'claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is
As a new article of manufacture, a finger attachment for playing games providedwith a clip adapted to engage the finger, and having a blade projecting therefrom, substantially as and for the purpose specified.
In testimony whereof I have affixed my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
FRED. A. BELLAMY.
Witnesses: WM. CHAS. STRINGFIELD, CHAS. V. SIMPSON.
