This invention relates to a. new device'for supporting the aim, and for retaining the balls, marbles, or other articles thrown at the aim during target-exercise with toy guns. The object of this invention is to so arrange' the platform upon which the 'target and the retaining-shields are arranged that the target maybe shot at from opposite sides, and that theballs'thrown from either side maybe caught and retained. The invention consists in the .use of a horizontal or nearly horizontal platform secured upon a suitable support, and having at each end folding elastic shields for catching and retaining the balls or marbles. The two shields may be raised at once, so as to allow shooting from two opposite sides, or any desired one of them may be raised at once, seas to allow the practitioner to stand on any desired side. The invention also consists in the use of a perforated plate secured upon or suspended above the platform.l The hole in this plate takcsthe place of the bulls-cye of an ordinary target. The ball, when correctly aimed, is thrown through the hole against the'opposite shield,
while, if it strikes the target, it rebounds against 'the shield nearest the practitioner.
i A represents a horizontal platform or table, of suitable size and material, mounted upon a suitable snp- Aport, B. 'The platform is surrounded by a ledge, a, as shown. To each end of the platform is hinged a wire frame, 6, to which a exible shield, C, is secured, which can be expanded in the manner shown in fig. 1, and
' which 'may be folded together whenever desired. D is a target, perforated in the centre, as shown in figs. 1
and 2. This target is either secured upon the platform Aor issuspended from a frame, E, which projects from the platform, asshown. The frame E may, if desired, be provided with an indicating-apparatus, d d, as shown. VHaving thus described our invention, what we claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. Providing the platform A with two flexible folding shields C C on both ends, substantially as and Afor ,the purpose herein shown and described.
` 2.A The platform A, when provided with a iiexible folding shield, C, on each end, in .combination with the perforated target D, all made and operating substantially as and for the purpose herein shown and described.
