'ro ALL' WHoM 1r MAY eoNonRrn.
Be it known that I, JOHN A. EVARTS, of West Meriden, in the county of New Haven, and State of Connecticut, have invented n new Improvement in Cest-Metal Match-Safes, &c.; und I do hereby declare the following, when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, end the letters of reference marked thereon, to be a. full, clear, and, exact description of the'seme,- and which seid'drewings constitute part o'f this specification, 'and represent, i`ni l I Figure l, e. perspective view.
Figure 2, a. perspective view of the .one part.
Figure 3, a. perspective View of the other part; and in Figure 4, a. sectional View on line :1: x.
This'invention relates to en improvement inthe constructionvof recepteclesfor matches, designed to be hung or secured to the well, and consists in a bese dr beck, and erfreut, beth formed from cast metal, the front east with lugs, and placed in aniould, end-in the niould the heck or base is cest thereon, attaching itself` to the front by the process of casting, by Ineens ofthe lugs on the front. y
To enable others to construct my improvement, I will proceed to describe the seme, es illustrated in the accompanying drawings. v
.A is the cese, and B the beek. l .tiret form e pattern of the form of the cese A, or other desired similar form, having upon the edge one or more projecting lugs, a, then mould und cest the part A in the usual manner; then nhould'the part B, placing the port A in its proper -position on the pattern, lling with send around the part A on to the pettern B; then remove the pattern B from the send, leeving the part A therein, und close the desk, und pour in the metal, which Hows around the lugs a, and, cooling, attaches itself securely to the part A, as seen in figs. 1 end 4, which, removed from the send, the cese or safe is complete. Thus is formed, in the simplest and cheapest possible manner, e neet und durable matchs-efe.
In forming the lugs upon the one part of the cese, cere should be teken that they 'neet' such forinthet the other part, being cest thereon, will lock itself thereto,` as seen in tig. 4. As Ina-ny lugs should be used as nre necessary for the securityv of the parts.
Having thus fully described my invention` what I claim as new und useful, und desire to secure by Letters Patent, is v i The match-safe herein described, consisting of the front and beck, constructed from cast metal, and the two parte united in the manner described, as truer? erticleof manufacture.
JOHN A. EVARTS. Witnesses:
