SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent N 0. 735,724, dated August 11, 1903.
Application filed September 19, 1902. Serial No. 123,966. (No model.)
To a whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, WILFRED S. DE WooDY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Franklin, in the county of Venango and State of Pennsylvania,- have invented a new and useful Improvement in Ornamental Multiple Candles, of which improvement the following is a specification.
My invention relates to candles, and has for its object to provide a new and improved form of ornamental multiple candle.
My invention consists in a plurality of candles having their bases so formed" as to fit a common socket when the several units are combined.
In the drawings like characters of reference refer to like parts throughout.
Figure 1 is a view of one of the candles. Fig. 2 is a view of several of the same as used in connection with a circular holder; Fig. 3 is a section on line w a: of Fig. 2.
My improved candle consists of a stem or shaft portion A, shown here of a simple twisted form, but which may be of any form desired, bent or straight, plain or ornamental," and which may be of any desired color. The base or socket portion B forms the principal part of my invention, and, as clearly shown in Fig. 3, is formed in cross-section as a sector of the cross-section of the socket of the can dlestick or holder 0.
Although I have herein shown a multiple candle consisting of four separate units, it is obvious that there may be more or less of these units used to form the multiple candle, the number simply depending on the number of sectors of the socket that are used. It is also obvious that the form of the cross-section of the socket need not be the circular one .here shown, since the cross-sections of the bases of the'various units can be varied to I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
A device of the character described comprising a plurality of candles, outwardly-extending, sector-shaped bases secured to each of said candles, the candles being centrally mounted within the sector-bases, and adapted to be assembled to form a round-based multiple candle, substantially as described.
