Be it known that I, THOMAS HOPE CHURCH- ILL, a subject of the King of Great Britain, anda residentof Truro,'N ova Scotia, Canada, have invented new and useful Improvements in Infants Cribs, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to infants cribs; and the object of the invention is to produce a crib which may be readily folded up when not in use. In accomplishing this object- I have produced a crib which is light, compact, and inexpensive in construction, while at the same time its mechanism is simple, easily understood, and easily operable.

In the following I have described with reference to the accompanying drawings a construction illustrating one form of my inven; tion, the features thereof being more particularly pointed out hereinafter in the claims.

In the drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective View of a crib embodying my invention, one of the side frames being turned downward at right angles to the bottom. Fig. 2 is an edge view of the crib folded. Fig. 3 is a vertical sectional view along the line A B of Fig. 5, the side frame and end frame being folded against the bottom as shown in Fig. 2 Fig. 4 is a vertical sectional view along the line 0 D of Fig. 5, the parts being in operative position as shown in Fig. 1. Fig. 5 is a horizontal sectional view along the lines E F of Fig. 4, illustrating the construction at one corner of the crib.

The end frames are pivotally connected to the bottom frame by means of spring-rings j, having lugs 70 k projecting into a recess Z in the bottom frame and pivoted therein on pin m. The size of the rings j should be such as not to hind legs a a a a as the latter slide through them, while at the same time they [parts should hold the'parts firmly together. The

outward spring of the ring caused by pressing the lugs is is together in the recess Z, as shown, tends to spread the ring, and hence to prevent binding.

The side frames are connected to the botframe, the lug extending up' into the slot 0 inthe base of the post e. Therelative lengths of the hinge n and the lug q should be such that when one side frame is folded over onto the bottom frame it will lie flat thereon, the other side frame when folded over lying flat on the frame first folded in, as shown inFig. 2, and when either side frame is turned outward from the end frames and downward over the side of the bottom frame it will lie flat against the legs a aof the end frames, as shown in Fig. 1.

Posts e e e e are provided with loops *1 to engage the tops of legs a a a a when in operative position with relation thereto.

The operation of my crib is as follows: To set up the crib from the folded condition, (shown in Fig. 2,) push the end frames outward in the plane of the bottom frame until the middle bars a of the end frames come into contact with ringsj. Then turn the end frames upward until they lieagainst the end of the bottom frame and at right angles thereto. Then raise the side frames to an upright position and pass the loops 0" over the tops of the legs a a a a, as shown in Fig. 1'. To refold the crib, unlock the loops 4'', fold the side frames down one on top of the other onto the bottom frame, turn the end frames into the plane of the bottom frame, and push them inward until the top bars I) come into contactwith the rings 3'.

If desired, one of the side frames may be let down, as shown in Fig. 1, by unlocking the loops at the top of the frame and swinging the frame outward and downward, the relative lengths of the hinge n and lug g per-' mitting the side frame to lie over against the legs a, a, as shown.

I am aware that changes may be made in details of construction, and I do not restrict myself to the specific construction shown.

Having described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is-- 1. In an infants crib, the combination of a bottom frame, end frames, means connecting said bottom and end frames, side frames and means connecting said bottom and side frames whereby the latter is permitted to be turned down onto and into the plane of the former or at right angles thereto either above or below the same, as and for the purpose specified.

2. In an infants crib, the combination of a bottom frame, end frames, means connecting said bottom and end frames whereby the latter are permitted to be turned into the plane of and pushed inward along the former, side frames and means connecting said bottom and side frames whereby the latter is' permitted to be turned down onto and into the plane of the former or at right angles thereto either above or below the same, as and for the purpose specified.

3. In an infants crib, the combination of a bottom frame, end frames, means connecting said bottom and'end frames, side frames and a double-jointed hinge connected one end to said bottom frame and the other end to said side frame whereby the latter is permitted to be turned down onto and into the plane of the former or at right angles thereto either above or below the same.

4. In an infants crib the combination of a bottom frame, end frames, means pivoted in the bottom frame adapted to permit the end frames to slide therethrough and to be turned into the plane of the bottom frame, side frames and a double-jointed hinge connected one end to said bottom frame and the other end to said side frame whereby the latter is permitted to be turned downonto and into the plane of the former or at right angles thereto either above or below the same.

5. In an infants crib the combination of a bottom frame, end frames, swinging rings pivoted in the bottom frame adapted to permit the end frames to slide therethrough and be turned into the plane of the bottom frame, side frames and means connecting said bot- .tom and side frames, as and for the purpose specified.

6. In an infants crib the combination of a bottom frame, end frames, spring-rings pivoted in the bottom frame adapted to permit the end frames to slide therethrough and be turned into the plane of the bottom frame, side frames and means connecting said bottom and side frames, as and for the purpose specified.

7. In an infants crib the combination of a bottom frame, end frames, outwardly-springing rings pivoted in the bottom frame adapted to permit the end frames to slide therethrough and be turned into the plane of the bottom frame, side frames and hinges pivotally connected at one end to the bottom frame and at the other to the side frames, as and for the purpose specified.
