Be it known that I, SAMUEL .P. LANGDON, a

' citizen of the United States, residing at Philadelphia, in the State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Oatamenial Bandage, of which the following is a specification.

This invention is an improved catamenial bandage or sanitary napkin, the object of the invention being to provide a device of this kind which shall be simple in construction andexceedin'gly eflicient in operation,- being particularly adapted for use while traveling or at a time when frequent changes of an ordinary napkin would be impossible.

The principal advantages of-the device con structed in'accordance with my invention are that it can be adjustable to suit various-sized persons and when adjusted will absolutely prevent soiling the underclothes,and,furthermore, the absorbent pad can be quickly and easily detached, cleansed, and again connected to the main or body portion of the bandage. v f

The invention consists, essentially, inproviding a waterproof bandage or napkin adjustably connected to a 'supporting-belt-and provided with a readily-cleansible absorbent pad detachably connected to the said bandage or napkin.

The invention consists also in the manner of connecting the said pad and in the manner of adjusting the napkin or bandage.

The invention consists also in certain details of construction and novelties of combination, all of which will be fully described hereinafter and pointed out in the claims.

In the drawings forming a part of this specification, Figure 1 is a detail perspective view of a device embodying myinvention. Fig. 2 is a top plan view of the napkin and pad thereon. Fig. 3 is a bottom plan view of the napkin, showing the manner of connecting the pad. Fig. 4 is a section on the line 4 40f Fig. 2, and Fig. 5 shows a detail of construction'.

In carrying out my invention I employ belt A, having front and rear depending portions A and A each being provided with a hook A arranged upon the outer side of each the napkin can i the wearer to remove .body of the napkin, an

The bandage or napkin B may be of any suitable or desirable material and has a facing 5 5 or lining C of waterproof material stitched to the upper side thereof, thus rendering the napkin or bandage proof against moisture. The napkin or bandage tapers toward each end, and the tapering portions are provided with a series of eyelets B, into which the hooks A fit, thereby connecting .the napkin to the belt, and by having a series of eyelets be adjusted to suit varioussized persons. 6

An absorbent pad D is arranged upon the waterproof face of the napkin B about .the center of the same, said pad being preferably made of sponge, though other material may be employed. This pad is detachably connected to the napkin by lacing-cords E,which pass through the pad from the upper side near each end down through eyelets B fixed in. the napkin, the ends of said cord being held upon the under side of said napkin, as most clearlyshown in Fig. 3. This enables the pad at any time quickly and easily, clean the same,and replace it. Thus one bandage of this description will be sufiicient and at the same time.

Having thus fully described my invention, what'I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-- I 1. A device of the kind described comprising a belt, awaterproof napkin, eyelets in the go absorbent material placed in the napkin and adapted to cover the eyelets, cords adapted to pass through the eyelets and absorbent material and be tied on the exterior of the napkin, and means for 5 securingsame to the belt.
