BELT.
- SPE(IIIIEICAZLION forming part of Letters Patent No. 723,271, dated March 24, 1903.
Application filed June 23,1902.
at Weymouth, in the county of Norfolk and State of Massachusetts, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Belts; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full,
. clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to belts; and it consists in the novel construction and combination of the parts hereinafter fully described and claimed. p
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a plan view of the belt. Fig. 2 is a side view of a portion of the belt.
A is the belt, and B is any approved buckle or fastening device at the front of the belt.
The belt A is formed of sections, and C represents strips or bands ofelastic material socured to the sections of the belt which are normally in abutment. Each belt-section has a strap D secured to it at one end and overlapping the band C and the end portion of the adjacent belt-section. The adjacent belt-section has a guide-loop cl for the strap D to slide in, and E is a spring-clasp for connecting the free end portion of the strap D with the belt-. section under it. The spring-clasp E is of any approved construction, such as used for fastening gloves. The belt can be let out without using the buckle B by simply unfastening one or both Serial No. 112,798. (No model.)
held connected by the bands of elastic material, which permit the ends of the belt-sections to separate, so that the belt adapts itself to the body of the wearer.
Two bands of elastic material C are preferably used and are arranged one at each side portion of the belt, with the spring-clasps at the rear portion of the belt.
What I claim is- 1. In a belt, the combination, with two beltsections, of a band of elastic material connecting the adjacent end portions of the said sections, a strap secured to one belt-section and overlapping the said band, and a spring-clasp normally connecting the free end portion of the said strap with the other said belt-section, substantially as set forth.
2. In a belt, the combination, with belt-sections, of bands of elastic material connecting the adjacent end portions of the said sections and arranged at the sides of thebelt, straps secured to the front belt-sections and overlapping the said bands, and spring-clasps normally connecting the free end portions of the said straps with the rear portion of the belt, substantially as set forth.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
PHILLIP FRANCIS HAVILAND.
