FREDERICK H. SMITH, OF SAN'FRANGISCO, CALIFORNIA.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 722,763, dated March 17, 1903.
Application filed December 26, 1902. Serial No. 136,599. (No model.)
Supports, of which the following is a specifi cation.
My invention relates to improvements in calendar-supports, the object of my invention being to provide a device of this character which shall be cheap and simple in construction, neat in appearance, occupy little room, and be convenient in use.
My invention therefore resides in the novel construction, combination, and arrangement of parts for the above ends hereinafter fully specified, and particularly pointed out in the claim.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of the device, and Fig. 2 is a vertical cross-section thereof.
Referring-to the drawings, 1 represents a suitable base, which may be of wood or metal or of wire, formed integral with the standard. The support for the calendar upon said base is formed of wire and comprises a horizontal or metal portion 2 and vertical end portions or standards 3, the feet of whichin the construction now shown are supported in holes or sockets formed in the base. If,
however, the base is made of wire, the ends of the support would be bent outward to form a sufiiciently broad base. The middle porwire, where it is bent to form the standards 3,are carried rings 6, which are passed through holes 7 in the calendar-sheets 8. Said raised or arched portion fulfils two functions: first, it serves as a suitable handle by which to raise the device, and, secondly, it serves to space the rings apart, so as to maintain the calendar-sheets always in a central position between the standards.
It is not necessary that the bends by which the portion 4 is raised from the portion 3 of the wire shall extend upward in order to so space said rings, as they may also extend downward or may be in the form of loops or double bends.
I claim- In a device of the character described, the combination with a suitable base, and calendar-sheets, of a wire support having its ends substantially at right angles to the middle portion to form standards, the ends of said standards being supported on said base, and the middle portion having bends therein in suitable positions for the purpose of spacing the rings supporting the calendar-sheets, and rings passing through apertures in said calendar-sheets and also around said middle portion of the wire, and maintained by said bends in proper position relative to said standards, substantially as described.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand in the presence of two subscribing wit-
