TO LL WHOM IT'MAY CONGERN: l

Beit known that I, THOMAS SMITH, of Brooklyn, in the county of Kings, and State of New York, have invented a new and improved Trunk; and I do hereby declare that'the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification.

Figures 1 and 2 represent vertical transverse sections of my invention.

Whenever-it is desire-d, the tray can be placed into. the trunk, reducing the dimensicnsof the same. l I

The devices for fastening the tray to the trunk-cover may 'be varied at pleasure. The traymay be providedvwith a suitabl'elock for securely closing it,I when arranged upon the trunkcover. This invention willl be very useful for travellers, as a trunk maybe made more capricious, while the size can be reduced when it is to be stored away. l Y

' I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters lPatent-- 1. The tray B of atrunk, when provided with a hinged bottom, d, substantially as and for the purpose herein shown anddescribed.
