HOSE-SUPPORTER.

Be it known that I, THOMAS P. TAYLOR, a citizen of the United States,residing at Bridgeport, in the county of Fairfield and State of Connecticut, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Hose-Supporters; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

My invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in hose-supporters, but has particular reference to that class of these devices that are not to be removed from the corset, butare, on the other hand,`perma nently attached thereto.

The object of my invention is to providea simple, efcient, and economical hose-supporter and at the same time to preserve the straight-front eect which is now commonly sought for.

With these ends in view my invention consists in certain details of construction, such as will be hereinafter fully set forth and then specifically be designated by the claims.

In the accompanying drawings, Figure lis a front elevation which shows the front portion of a corset equipped with my improved hose-supporter, the latter being shown'in its unfastened condition, while Fig. 2 isa similar view showing my supporter fastened and in position for use.

Similar numbers of reference denote like parts in both figures of the drawings.

l 2 are the front sections of a corset. 3 4 are flexible pads whose outer side edges are stitched throughout their entire lengths or a part of their lengths, respectively, to these sections, the remaining area of these pads being 'left perfectly free. From the lower edges of these pads depend webbings 5 6, which carry the usual stocking-engagingr members, which latter are not shown herein, since they form no part of the presentinvention and are merely ordinary appliances common to every hose-supporter. From'the lower edge of each` pad the horizontal diameter gradually increases until the top of the pad is reached, so that the inner edge of each pad tapers downwardly. together, as shown at Fig. 2, their upper inner ends will overlap, as shown, and this contributes greatly toward the proper set of the pads and, moreover, prevents the latter from becoming wrinkled or distorted when any strain comes on the stocking-engaging members.

It will be seen that my improvement may very readily be clasped and unclasped, while at the same time in clasped position it materially aids in preventing the corset-sections themselves from becoming disarranged, and in this connectionl would state that I do not desire to be limited to any particular device or devices for fastening the pads together, since my invention is not limited in this respect and any suitable and ordinary device may be employed for'this purpose.

The location of the ballandsocket fastener or othersuitable devices is of course immaterial, since these appliances may be placed at any point or points on the pads and are not necessarily located at the top of the latter.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

1. In a hose-supporter adapted to be peI-,

manently carried by a corset, the two pads each having stocking-engaging members dependingtherefrom and secured at their outer edges to the opposite sections of a corset wholly above the lower edge thereof and in front at the point where said sections meet, said pads having at their inner edges devices whereby the pads may be secured together directly across the meeting edges of the corset, substantially as set forth.

2. In a hose-supporter adapted to be permanently carried by a corset, the two pads having their outer edges secured respectively to the sections of a 'corset wholly above the lower edgethereof and at a point where said sections meet in front, said pads having tapering' inner edges and provided with fastening devices whereby said pads may be secured together directly across said point where said sections meet in front,substan tially as set forth.
