FINGER- GUARD.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 718,652, dated `January 20, 1903.

Be it known that I, DUNCAN MCMILLAN, a citizen of the United States,residing atBrooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Finger-Guards, of which the following is a specification.
The invention relates to finger-guards to be worn upon the finger of a person and designed for use in pressing or packing down the tobacco in a lighted pipe, whereby the finger will be prevented from being burned.
The object of the invention is to provide a device of this character which shall be simple of construction, durable in use, comparatively inexpensive of production, and efficient in action.
To this end the invention consists in certain novel features of construction and combination and arra gement of parts,which will be hereinafter fully described and claimed, and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a perspective view of the improved flnger-guard. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal vertical sectional view through the same. Fig. 3 is a view of a modified form.
The device consists of a cap I, designed to be slipped upon the end of the finger. The cap, as shown in Figs. I, 2, and 3, may be made of a iiexible material, preferably elastic and preferably consisting of rubber. When made of flexible elastic material a button 2 is provided. As shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the button may project from the side of the cap, or, as shown in Fig, 3, may project from the end of the cap. In either case the button is supposed to be of a size to fit Serial No. 119 .116. (No model.)

and the minor details of construction may be resorted to without departing from the principle or sacrificing any of the advantages of this invention.
Having thus described myinvention, what 5 5 I claim as new,and desire to secu re by Letters Patent, is-
1. A iinger-guard for the purpose described, consisting of elastic cot to iit the finger and provided with a metallic button at its tip, substantially as described.
2. A finger-guard for the purpose described consisting of a iiexible cot having attached thereto intermediate the ends thereof a button substantially as described.
3. A finger-guard for the purpose described consisting of a iexible elastic cot, having a button attached thereto intermediate the ends thereof, substantially as described.
