UNITED STATES ATENT FFICE.
THOMAS DE Q. RICHARDSON, OF PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA.
BOTTLE FOR PUTTlNG UP TOOTH, TOILET, OR OTHER POWDERS.
SPECIFICATION formingpart of Letters Patent No. .71 6,759, dated. December 23, 1902. Application filed January 27, 1902. Serial No. 91,363. (No model.)
To'aZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, THOMAS on Q. RICH- ARDSON, a citizen of the United States, residing in the city and county of Philadelphia,
State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new.
removed from contact on said exterior, so that:
access tosaid label is prevented, all as will be hereinafter described, the novel features being pointed out in the claim.
Figure 1 represents a side elevation of a bottle embodying my invention. Fig. 2 represents a vertical section thereof on line 000;, Fig. 1. Fig. 3 represents a horizontal section on line i y, Fig. 2.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in the figures.
Referring to the drawings,.A designates a glass bottle, and B the neck thereof. 0 desi gnates a cap, which is cemented or otherwise hermetically and immovably secured to said neck and provided with a threaded nozzle D, the latter being of reduced diameter and having fitted thereto the screw plug or stopperE.
F designates a label, which is fpasted, gummed, or otherwise secured to the inner wall of the bottle, whereby the matter on the label is visible from the exterior of the bottle and may be read through the wall of the bottle. Another label G is applied to the-bottle similar to the label F; but to the number of labels I do not limit myself.
It will now be seen that the exterior of the bottle may be washed or cleansed without disturbing or affecting the label, nor can the latter be disconnected from the inner wall of the bottle under ordinary circumstances, so as to dispose of the advertising nature of the label, for the cap 0 is a fixture and the nozzle D is sm'alb'and will not admit the finger of theuser, and thnswhen the bottle is empty it is comparatively of no further service to the owner. lhe contents of the bottle-in the present case tooth or toilet powder-will not afiect the label, and vice versa, as the back of the label is plain and has no printed matter thereon; but when the plug E is unscrewed the contents may be readily poured out through the open nozzle D.
I am aware that a bottle-stopper has been provided with a label covered by glass, and I am also aware that a label has been applied to the back of a glass plate and the latter secured to the exterior of a bottle; but the same forms a projection'on saidexterionand I therefore disclaim such featn res.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
A bottle for the purpose described, having a cap permanently fixed thereto and a reduced opening therefor, and an advertisinglabel, the latter being within the bottle and having a printed face which is in contact with the inner wall of the bottle and occupying only a portion of said wall and rigidly affixed thereto by adhesive material directly on said face, the back of said label being unprinted and being adapted to be concealed by the contents of the bottle which are otherwise apparent through the unlabeled portion.
THOMAS DE Q. RICHARDSON.
