PETER O. HALL, OF SAYBROOK, ILLINOIS, ASSIGNOR OF ONEIIALF TO ENOCH H.'SHORES, OF SAYBROOK, ILLINOIS.
HOLDER FOR WATCHMAKERS MATERIALS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 716,223, dated December 16, 1902.
l l Application filed May 16,1902. Serial No. 107,672,, (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, PETER O. I-IALL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Say'brook, in the county of McLean and State of Illinois, 5 have invented a new and useful Holder for Watchmakers Materials, ofwhich thefollowing is a specification.
This invention relates to holders for watchmakers materials.
The object of the invention is to present a novel and convenient form of holder or receptacle for the various articles employed by watchmakers and repairerssuch as wheels, jewels, balance-staffs, pallets, &c.the articles to be disposed in the holder or receptacle in such manner as to be freely exposed to view and to be examinable Without necessitating removal, thereby obviating danger of getting the difierent articles mixed.
With these and other objects in view, as
will appear as the nature oftthe invention is,
assemblage without departing from the spirit,
thereof, and inthe drawings 4 ,Figure 1 is a view in perspective of the holder, the tray portion being removed from the casing. Fig. 2 is a view in longitudinal in transverse section.
Referring to the drawings, 1 designates the casing or body of the holder to be made of some suitable transparent substance, preferably of glass, on account of. its, waterproof and non-corrosive qualities, and' maybe protents of the different compartments.
Fig. 3 is a view vided with a rounded closed end, as shown,
or with a square end, as may be preferred.
Arranged within the casing is the tray 2,
which is of asize to fit snugly within the cas- 5o ing and is divided by disks 3 into a plurality of compartments to contain diiferent articles used by watchmakers, one end of the tray sired number of these holders and place them within adrawer of a watchmakers cabinet.
The advantage of the device will be obvious to any watchmaker, for not only will a large saving of time be effected in selecting a pieceof material, but the mixing together of different kinds of materials, which frequently happens" under arrangements in vogue, is positively obviated.
In using the holder it may be removed from the drawer or be allowed to remain there, as the jeweler by looking through the longitudinal slot in the tray may inspect the con- When the article is found, the tray is drawn out a sufficient distance to expose the compartment containing the article, which may then be removed with a pair of pincers.
In practice the casing may be made of any desired length and the tray may be provided with any preferred number of compartments, and it is thus to be understood that the invention is not to be limited to the exact arrangement herein exhibited.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is d 1. A device of the character specified, comwith the tray for holding it in position with- I0 prising a transparent body, and a longitudiin the body. nally-divided tray spaced into a plurality of In testimony that I claim the foregoing as transverse compartments, and adapted to fit my own I have hereto affixed my signature in 5 within the said body. the presence of two witnesses.
2. A device of the character specified, com- PETER O. HALL. prising a transparent body, a longitudinally- Witnesses: divided tray spaced into a plurality of trans- M. O. MCMURRY,
verse compartments, and a closure associated O. T. MCMURRY.
