UNTTED STATES ATENT WILLIAM G. PEASE, OF SOUTH ELIOT, MAINE, ASSIGNOR OF ONE-HALF TO MYRON I. KENT, OF ELIOT, MAINE.
NON=REFILLABLE BOTTLE.
:PECTFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. '71 2,714, dated November 4, 1902.
Application filed February 27, 1901. Serial No. 49,032. (No model.) i
To wZZ whom it Wmy concern: and the end portions 12 of which extend in Be it known that I, IVILLIAM O. PEASE, a parallelism and in opposite directions. The citizen of the United States, residing at South lock-bar 9 is preferably connected with the Eliot, in the county of York and Stateof valve device by passing one end 12 of the 55 Maine, have invented certain new and useful wire through a suitable eye or opening 13,

The lock-bar9in its operative IO improved device of this class which shall be connection with the valve device is capable of superior in point of simplicity, inexpensiveturning into a position parallel with the proness, and general efficiency. jection 8 of the valve device and in this po- In the drawings, Figure 1 is a detail versition may be readily passed downwardly into tical sectional view of the improved bottle. the body portion of the bottle when the valve :5 Fig. 2 is a detail perspective view of the imdevice is brought into seated position upon proved valve device, which constitutes the the valve-seatet. The valve device operates freely in form and is provided at its base or at the longitudinally of the bottle when the same is point of junction with the body portion with tilted in the act of pouring or decanting the a conical valve-seat 4, upon which the conical contents of the same, leaving its seat 4 when 0 valve device 5 is seated when in operative the bottle is tilted into pouring position, and position. The neck portion 3 is of proper thus permitting the contents of the bottle to diameter above the valve-seat 4 to permit of pass around the valve device and out through play of the valve device 5 above the valvethe neck portion, which may be slightly bulbseat, and said neck portion may receive a one in form, as at 3, adjacent the valve-seat 5 suitable stopper or cork 6 above the valve 4. Thevalve device islimited in itsoutwarddevice and val ve-seat. sliding movement bycontact of the lock-bar In the preferred form of construction the with the top of the body portion of the botvalve device 5 consists of asolid conical body tle. As soon as the bottle is restored to upportion 7, from which depends an integral right normal position the valve device seats 0 4o projection 8, which when the valve is seated upon the valve-seat, and. any attempt to fill upon the valve-seat projects downwardly the bottle through the neck portion is dewithin the body portion 2 of the bottle. In The entire device is simple and inexpensive the preferred form of construction the lockin construction and is extremely efficient in 10c 50 bar 9 consists of a single length 10 of stifi use and efiectually serves the uses of a demetal wire which is looped centrally, as at 11, vice of this class.
I do not desire to be understood as limiting myself to the details of construction and arrangement as herein described and illustrated, as it is manifest that variations and modifications may be made in the features of construction and arrangement in the adaptation of the device to various conditions of use without departing from the spirit and scope of my invention and improvements. I therefore reserve the right to all such variation and modification as properly falls within the scope of myinvention and the terms of the following claim.
Having thus described my invention, I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent A device of the class described, comprising a body and a neck the lower inside walls of which latter incline inwardly to the juncture of the body and neck, a member shaped like a threadless screw with a head having a flat top and sides inclined complementary to the inside walls of the neck adjoining the junction of the body and neck and with a tapering shank fitting closely in the junction of the body and neck at its upper end and having its lower and smaller end flattened and perforated, and a locking device embodying a piece of Wire having a central loop seated in said perforation and ends extending in opposite directions.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name in the presence of the subscribing Witnesses.
WILLIAM C. PEASE. Witnesses:
