WILHELM NORRES, OF SOHALKE, GERMANY.
ELECTRIC MlNE-EXPLODER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. '7 07,626, dated August 26, 1902. Application filed March 28,1902. Serial No. 100, 55. (No model.)
subject of the King of Prussia, German Emperor, and a resident of Schalke, Westphalia,
in the Kingdom of Prussia, German Empire, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Electric Mine-Exploders, of a which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
The present invention relates to electric mine-exploders in which, instead of the long conducting-wires being used till now and attached proximatelyto the mine-exploders and by means of which the transport and the dry preservation of the mine-exploders was rendered rather difficult, short metal pipes are provided within the firing-stopper containing the fuse composition, the conducting-wires being inserted into the said metal pipes; but
then when the mine-exploder is to be put inaction the said metal pipes are pinched to gether, thus being combined with the said conducting-wires, respectively, and with the mine-exploder. Furtherm0re,the explosiveshells of the present mine-exploder are divided on their open edge by means of incisures into several tongues, by means of which the said shells are simply set upon the conical firing-stopper without pinching the same upon the latter. In consequence of the aforesaid arrangement of the mine-exploder a more simple actuating of the same than hitherto will be obtained.
The electric mine-exploder is shown in the accompanying drawings, in which- 1 Figure 1 is a longitudinal section, and Fig. 2 a side view, of the same. Fig. '3 is an end elevation of the firing-stopper, and Fig. 4 .an end elevation of the explosive-shell.
Within the conical firing-stopper Ct, which contains the fuse composition b, two metal pipes c o are fixed, projecting into the latter and closed at their inner ends. The explo sive-shell dis provided at its open edge with incisures f, by means of which the edge is divided into several tongues, so that the explosive-shell may be simply set upon the conical firing-stopper a, whereby the tongues of the explosive-shells are forced outward, thus pinching and fixing the explosive-shell on the stopper a. When the mine-exploder is to be used, the conducting-wires g are inserted into the metal pipes c, as shown in Fig. 1, whereupon they are fixed within the latter by pinch- .ing together the metal pipes on the said wires, thus rendering the mine-'exploder ready for.
action.
It will be evidentthat this mine-exploder may be conveyed from .one place to another and preserved much easier than those employed hitherto, which were provided with long conductingwires. Furthermore, the present mine-exploder can be made ready for action very easily and without any great trouble and pains. v
Having now described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
In an electric mine-exploder the combination with a conical firing-stopper a containing the fuse composition, of metal pipe 0 fixed within the said stopper,conducting-wires g inserted into the said metal pipes, and an ex- WILHELM NORRES.
