GARNI ENTMSUPPORTER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Raf/ent No. 707,032, dated August 12, 190Q.
l Application filed September 7, 1901. Serial No. 74,638. (No model.)
To all whom, t may conoci/'72,:
Be it known that I, FERDINAND SPIERING, a citizen of the United States, residing at and whose post-office address is Arlington, in the county of Sibley and State of Minnesota, have invented new and useful Improvements in Garment-Supporters, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to garment-supporters designed especially as a drawers support for mens wear; and the object of the invention is to provide a device of this character of simple and inexpensive construction and adapted to effectively serve the purpose in view.
The improvement comprises a supporter consisting of two separable parts of novel construction, one of which is attached to the garment, while the other member is detachably secured to the first-named member and provided with a hook to engage the trousers.
The detailed features of the device will be fully described hereinafter in connection with the accompanying drawings, which form part of this specification, and its points of novelty defined in the appended claim.
In the drawings,"Figu re l is a view in perspective of a garment-supporter embodying the invention with the two members connected. Fig. 2 is a side or edge view of the same. Fig. 3 is a view in perspective of the two members disconnected.
The numeral 1 designates one member of my device, which consists of a plate of thin iiexible material, having at its upper portion offsets. Centrally in the body portion of the plate I form an elongated vertical slot 2, and I provide the offsets and the lower end of the plate with perforations 3 for securing the plate to the upper edge or waistband portion of the garment. The other member of the device consists of a thin piece of flexible material bent to form a hook 4L, having opposite extended end portions. The front extension of the `hook is bent outwardly, as at 6, and thence downwardly and terminates in a reduced end 7 of a width equal to that of the said slot, said end 7 having projecting from opposite sides thereof curved arms 5, and by means of this construction of the outward bend 6, reduced end 7, and curved arms 5 the two members of the device are connected together, as shown in Fig. l of the drawings. The upper end of the hook 4 is made in loop or curved form 6, and below this loop the opposite sides of the hook are bent or contracted inwardly to form clamps 8, whereby when the waistband of a garment is interposed between the rear extension of the hook and the extended end of the plate l, which is accomplished by pulling the said extension rearwardly for the purpose, the garment is securely held in place between the two plates by means of the spring action of the clamps 8.
I claim- A garment-supporter comprising two separable members formed of resilient material, one of which is provided with a central elongated vertical slot, the other member being constructed in hook form having on its front portion an outwardly-bent portion terminatingin a reduced end provided with outwardlyextended curved arms whereby to coact with the slot of the first-mentioned member to connect the two members together, the upper end of the hook having a curved loop portion and an inwardly-bent or contracted portion below the same so as to form a spring-clamp between the front and rear wall of the hook, substantially as and for the purpose specified.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
FERDINAND SPIERING.
