T at whom it may c01wcrmzen of the United States, residingat Washington, District of Columbia, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Drip Attachments for Dispensing Apparatus, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to a drip attachment for liquid-dispensing apparatus designed for catching the drip from the draw-01f faucet when the latter is closed and not in use, and is particularly in the nature of an improvement upon or another embodiment of the invention disclosed in my companion application filed April 3, 1901, Serial No..54,148.

The presentinvention has in view the provision of novel means for hanging or supporting the drip-receptacle beneath the faucetnozzle, while at the same time permitting of the receptacle being freely moved out of the way by the act of placing a glass beneath the faucet. In this relation the invention possesses special utility in connection with sodawater fountains.

A further object of the invention is to associate with the drip-receptacle and its support means for permitting of a convenient tilting of the receptacle to effect a discharge of accumulations therein.

With these and many other objects in view, which will more readily appear as the nature of the invention is better understood, the same consists in the novel construction, combination, and arrangement of parts hereinafter more fully described, illustrated, and claimed.

The essential features of the invention are necessarily susceptible of modification; but the preferred embodiment is shown in the accompanyingdrawings, in which Figure 1 is a perspective view of the drawoff faucet of a soda-water fountain provided with a drip attachment constructed in'accordance with the present invention. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the supporting or hanging means for the drip-receptacle, showing the several elements constituting such supporting or hanging means unassembled.

Like numerals of reference designate corresponding parts in the several figures of the drawings.

As set forth in the companion application aforesaid, the attachment may be associated with any type or style of faucet; but for illustrative purposes there is shown in the drawings an ordinary soda-Water-fountain faucet 0r draw-off appliance 1, having the usual cocks besides the tubularstem 2 and the pendent delivery-nozzle 3. In the form of invention disclosed in this application the drip-receptacle is preferably designed to be suspended from the deliverynozzle 3 of the fan cet, although modifications of this thought may be resorted to Without departing from the spirit of the invention.

Necessarily any suitable form of drip-receptacle 4 may be employed; but whatever the shape of this receptacle may be the same is designed to be normally suspended beneath the nozzle 3, Within the vertical plane thereof, and to effect this support of the drip-receptacle or cup 4 the same has associated therewith a pair of oppositely arranged hanger-links 5, pivotally connected at their lower ends by the pivots 6 to diametrically opposite sides of the neck 7 of the drip-receptacle or cup 4. The oppositely-arranged hanger-links 5 are provided at their upper ends with laterally-projecting pivot-studs 8, adj ustably engaging with the bearing-notches 9, formed in the upper edges of bearingbrackets or plates 10, fitted to and offset from the opposite side arms of a supporting-clip 11. This supporting-clip may be of any suitable construction, but is preferably of a U form, so as to fit over and embrace the nozzle 3 of the faucet, and is provided with an exteriorlythreaded spring split shank 12, receiving thereon the binding nut 13, which when screwed upon the shank serves to firmly bind the clip upon the faucet-nozzle. The adj ustable pivotal connection between the hangerlinks 5 and the supporting member or clip 11 provides means for properly centering the drip-receptacle un der differentwidths of fancet-nozzles.-

In the preferred form of the invention there is preferably associated with the drip-receptacle and its support fastening-latches 14:. These fasteningdatches are in the form of plates slidably mounted upon the hangerlinks 5 and provided with longitudinal slots 15, receiving guiding-studs 16, secured to the hanger-links, said slide-plates or latches be ing further provided at their upper ends with finger-buttons 17. At their lower ends the slide plates or latches are provided with notches 18, adapted to normally engage with angular catch-lugs 19, projecting from the sides of the drip-receptacle below the pivots 6 of the hanger-links. When the latches are thus engaged with the catch-lugs, the dripreceptacle is prevented from turning on the pivots 6; but by raising the latches, so as to disengage them from the lugs 19, the drip-receptacle is free to be tilted upon the pivots 6, as indicated in Fig. 1, so as to discharge the contents thereof. However, with the latches l-l engaged with the lugs 19 the drip-receptacle is free to be moved by the pressure of the hand or glass to a position at one side of.

Various other modifications may-be resorted to,and it will be understood that many changes in the form, proportion, and minor details of construction can be employed Without departing from the spirit or sacrificing any of the advantages of the invention.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

l. A drip attachment for faucets and the like comprising a supporting member adapted to be secured to the faucet, hanger-links having a shiftable pivotal connection with the supporting member, said shiftable pivotal connection providing an adjustment for centering purposes, and a drip-receptacle pivotally suspended from the said links.

2. A drip attachment for faucets and the like, comprising a supporting-clip having opposite brackets provided with a series of bearing-notches, hanger-links having pivot-studs shiftably engaging said notches, and a dripreceptacle suspended from said links.

3. A drip attachment for faucets and the like comprising a swinging hanger, a tiltable drip-receptacle carried by the swinging hanger and having pivotal connection therewith, and a locking member also carried by the swinging hanger coacting with the receptacle for preventing the tilting thereof.

4:. A drip attachment for faucets and the like, comprising suitably-supported swinging hanger-links, a drip-receptacle pivotally connected with said links and provided with catch-lugs, and fastening-latches slidably mounted upon said links and having notches engaging with said lugs.
