Be it known that I, IIARRY BITTER, of the city and county of Philadelphia, and State of Pennsylvania, have' invented awncw and usefulfConibination of an Elastic Facing-Ring, Coupling-Wrenches, and Detacling'Piek with Hose Clamps; and I do hereby declare that the following is a.fnll and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon.

The nature of myinvention consists in the combination of an elasticfaeing-ring, coupling-wrenches, and

detaching pick with thehose clamp of Patrick II. Collins, dated April 30, 1867. It will be understood by the following description. In the accompanying drawings, which make a part of this specification- Figurel is a reverse plan or view from beneath of the improved device. Figure 2 is an edge view of the same in its reversed position. -Figure 3 is a fac'c view of the facing-ring D.

Like letters in all the figures indicate vthe same parts.

A and A are concave jaws, which have handles, a and a',that are half lapped together and secured by means of a rivet, b, on which they turn. The jaws, when brought towards each other onthe hose, are confined by means of the ratchet B, which isheld in place by the spring C. Se far the device is substantially the same as that of Patrick II. Collins, above referredto.

The invention consists in the combination of the following devices with the clamp, viz:

D is a ring, of gatta percha, leather, or other similar substance, which I confine to the jaw A, as seen in g. 2, by means-of rivctsc, or otherwise. A face View of this ring is seen in fig. 3. This takes the place of the knife-edge projection in Mr. Collins's patent, and is a more eective mode of stopping the leak. The jaw A may be faced in the -same manner, if desired. The device is made to perform the functions of an ordinaryspanner by means of the couplingwrcneh d in the jaw A for screwing and unserewing the Bliss coupling, the wrench e, in the end of the handle a, for operating either the Bliss or Jones coupling, and the pick f, at the termination of the handle o', for detaehing. the Jones coupling.

'When the device is used in place of the ordinary Spanner, the handles a an'da. a're held firmly together by the ratchet B. The jaws A and A maybe held in position without the use of the ratchet' B by means of the screw E, in connection with the lugs g g, as represented in tig. 4.

What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is The combination of the facing-ring D, wrenches d and e, and piek f with Aa hose clamp, substantially as described and forthc purposes specified.
