MAKING TIN BOILERS FOR COOKING-STOVES WITH CAST-IRON BOTTOMS.
Specification of Letters Patent No. 6,943, dated December 11, 1849.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, GIBSON Non'rn, of the city and county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and Improved Mode of Manufacturing Bottoms for Tin Boilers; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description.
The nature of my invention consists in the union of a tin top to a castiron bottom so coated as to prevent rusting, and to be both more durable and more economical than bottoms of tin or copper.
To enableothers skilled in the art to make and use my invention I will now proceed to describe its construction and operation. I make a bottom of cast iron of any suitable shape or form and to prevent the same from rusting I coat it on the inside with tin, Zinc, or enamel or any other substance that will coat it on the inside with tin, zinc, or enamel or any other substance that will answer that purpose. The, boilers may be completed by soldering to the rim of the bottom thus constructed a tin top of any of the ordinary forms.
hat I claim is my improvement in the manufacture of boilers for cooking stoves as above set forth that is lVIaking the bottoms of cast iron and the bodies of tin the two being soldered together substantially as described.
