IMPROVED WATER-HEATER.
Specification formiugpart'of Letters Patent No. 44,54 2, dated October 4, 1864.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that we, JOHN M. MOINTYRE and RoBER'r-MEGINNITY, of Detroit, in the county of Wayne and State of Michigan, have invented a-new and Improved Water-Heater for Stoves and Ranges; and we do hereby declare that .the following is a full, clear, and
, exact description thereof, which will enable those skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, in which' 'Figure'l is a vertical central section of ourv -invention,taken in the line mm, Fig. 2; Fig. 2,

This invention has for its object the dispepsing with the" ordinary fwater-back, which are placed in, stoves and ranges and communicate by meansof pipes with the heater or water-receptacle in order to heat the Water therein. These water-backs absorb a great amount of heat and greatly deteriorate, the

ofany of its heat to warm the water in A, as the coil B is heated by the waste heat which passes into the pipe or flue.
In carrying out" this invention it is not.
strictly essential that the coil B be placed in It may in certain cases be the pipe or flue. placed over-a hole in the top plate of the stove or range, or'in a place where an ordinary boiler is fitted. The coil B may be arranged in various ways. sented as being around a cone, D,'which is placed within a cone, E, the heat passing up throughthe latter. Other plans, however,
. may be devised to effect the same end.
We claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent A, in such a manner that the coil maybe heated by the waste heat, either within the pipe or flue of the stove or overor on the latter, or atany point or place outside the fire-chamber of the stove or range, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
