TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:

Be it known that 1, JOHN W. LARMORE, of Harrison, Hamilton county, Ohio, have invented a new and useful \."hiille-Tree; and I hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, making part of this specification.

The object of this invention is a form for a whiflle-tree which combines strength with lightness and elasticity; and which may be adapted so as to apportion a greateror less duty upon one or other animal, where more than one is used.

The stretcher A may be either of wood or iron, but I prefer to make it of wrought iron. I form in its extremities eyes or orifices a a. 3 is a rod, whose ends being bent forward and. passed through the apertures u terminate in hooks Z' (1. C is a hook, loop, or ring, having an eye,c, by which it grasps the red 13 at or above its middle. l.) is a set-screw, which, being tapped through one side of the eye 0, serves to hold the hook C to the middle or any other position on the rod B, according to whether it he desired to equalize or to vary the draught on the respective ends of the tree. E are springs, which, pressing upward against the hooks I) I), prevent the accidental disengagement of the team. The rod B, being capable of yielding slightly, lessens the jar incident to sudden starting and stopping.

I claim herein as new, and of my invention-- The arrangement of perforated stretcher A a a, hooked rod 13 Z) I), adjustable loop or hook C e, and setscrew D, for the purpose set forth.
