$PEGIFIGATION forming part of Letters Patent N0. 691,039, dated January 14, 1902.
Application filed June 13,1900. Serial No. 20,200. (No model.)
at Gross St. Florian, Province of Styria, Aus-v tria-Hungary, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Transporiable Ice- Cases; and I hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
The invention relates to transportable icecases.
Transportable ice-cases in general have the inconvenience that they cannot be overturned quickly and easily and that the empty barrels cannot be taken out together with the stopcock.
The object of the present invention is a transportable bar ice-case which consists in an ice-tank rotatable in a support which may be brought in any desired inclined position during the bottling by means of a Windlass and when the barrel is empty can be overturned forward, so that a quick removal of the empty barrel and substitution by a full one is possible, the ice-tank being secured in its inclined position by a strut or supporting device, so that the empty barrel may be taken out after lifting the cover of the ice-tank without the stop-cock, projecting through a slot in a slide closing the opening in the front wall, being withdrawn.
In the accompanying drawings my improved ice-case is represented, in-
Figure 1, in side view vertically sectioned. Fig. 2 shows the ice-tankin inclined position in side View. Fig. 3 is a front view of the apparatus. Fig. 4 is a front view of the stay, on a larger scale. Fig. 5 shows the stay in side view.
The barrel 1) rests upon a cradle o in tank a, which is provided with a cover d. The icetank is supported by a trestle e and can be turned in hingesf on the front side by means of a Windlass consisting of a shaft 7r, which is provided with a crank g, a ratchet-wheel h, and a ratchet-pawl 11. When the shaft la is turned by the crank g, a cord Zis wound up or off, one end of this cord being fixed on an arm m of the ice-tank a. In the front wall of the latter there is provided an opening closed by a slide at, through which projects the stopcock p. The water is evacuated through a discharge 0.
In Fig. 1 the ice-tank is shown in dotted lines in the overturned position, clear for taking out the empty barrel. In this position the ice-tank is secured by a stay which consists of two bars r r, jointed by'a cross-piece q, the upper ends of the bars being provided with clutches t t, which are normally spread apart by reason of the spiral spring 3, which draws the opposite ends of the bars r toward each other. When an empty barrel is to be taken off, the slide is lifted and the tank inclined by means of the Windlass and the stay fitted in the opening in the front side of the tank, the clutches engaging the edges of the slideopening. The tank is then brought in the position shown in dotted lines in Fig. 1.
Th is bar apparatus is not onlyadvantageous to replace the apparatus now in use, but also for flying bars for railway-station bars, (to. If in winter-time the beer is congealed, it may be easily thawed in the described apparatus by closing the discharge 0 with a cork and filling the tank a with hot water.
Having now described the nature of my in vention, I declare that what I claim as; new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The combination with a support, of an icetank pivotally mounted thereon, as described, and having an opening in its front side, a slide adapted to close said opening and means for supporting the tank when tilted into a vertical or substantially vertical position, comprising bars r, a jointed connection for said bars, clutches at one end of the bars and adapted to engage the described opening in the ice-tank and a spring adapted to act upon the bars as set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my invention I have signed my name in. pres ence of two subscribing witnesses.
