SUSAN DIANA ROSA, OF EDINBURGH, SCOTLAND.
DOLLS HOUSE.
SPEGIFICAIION forming part of Letters Patent No. 688,008, datd DeceI nbei 3, 1901.
Application filed April 4, 1900.
T0 ctZZ whom it may concern.-
Be it knownthatLSUsAN DIANA RosA, gentlewoman,a subject of the Queen of theUnited Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, and a resident of 10 Mayfield road, Edinburgh, Scotland, have invented new and useful Improvements in Dolls Houses, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in dolls houses; and it consists in so constructing the sides of the house that they can be opened while the front of the house remains intact and a fixture, enabling a child to play with the dolls in the various rooms and at the same time have the use of the street or front door, by which the dolls may be passed in and out, the front door remaining intact in perfect simulation of the front and entrance door of an actual house.
Figure 1 shows the one side of the house opened out. Fig. 2 shows the same side closed. Fig. 3 shows the side folded up compact against the side of the house and out of the way against the side of the house.
As shown in the said drawings, the sides are made in sections A, hinged together either by linen strips a or other hinges, so that they can be folded compact and tied together by a band or chain B, which embraces them, the free end of which can be attached to the hook I), the folded side being thus entirely out of the way. WVhen the side is closed, as in Fig. 2, the various sections of the side may be held rigid by a cross-bar C, hinged or pivoted at c and provided at the other end with a notch or recess D, engaging with a pin d, as shown in Fig. 2.
I claim 1. A dolls house constructed with an immovable front; several interior rooms separated by transverse partitions and hinged Serial No. 11 434 (No model.)
which said hinged walls are rigidly secured when closed, as described.
3. A dolls house having a fixed front; sev eral stories of interior rooms separated by transverse partitions; and hinged side walls each consisting of a number of vertical leaves A, A, extending from bottom to top, connected by flexible strips a, a, adapting the entire side of the house to be folded back in compact form out of the way so as to afiord access to the several rooms of the different stories or to be rigidly secured in closed position, as shown and described.
4. In a dolls house, the combination of a fixed front having a front door; an interior structure of several stories consisting of separate rooms separated bytransverse partitions; hinged and folding sides each consisting of a number of vertical leaves A, A, extending from bottom to top, connected by flexible strips a, 0., adapting the entire side wall to be folded back into compact position out of the way and afford access to all the interior rooms; bands B for securing the hinged sides in folded position; and bars 0 by which the said hinged sides are rigidly secured in extended and closed position, all as shown and described.
