HOLDER FOR CONDENSED-MILK CANS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 681,963, dated September 3, 1901.
Application filed June 4, 1901. Serial No. 63,080. (No model.)
To all whom t may concern.:
Be it known that I, BENJAMIN P. HANET, a citizen of the United States, residing in Paterson, in the count-y of Passaic and State of New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Holders for Gondensed-Wlilk Cans; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and eXact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to'which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
The object of this invention is to provide a holder or receptacle suitable for table use for a condensed-milk can, which holder or recep- 1 tacle shall have a device removably attached thereto and inclosed therein, whereby after some of the contents of the can have been taken out with a spoon the drippings from the spoon may be neatly removed.
The invention will be found fully illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein corresponding letters of reference indicate like parts, and wherein- Figure l is a side view of the invention, portions thereof being broken away to illustrate the internal structure. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the spoon-cleaning attachment, and Fig. 3 illustrates a modification of the invention.
In said drawings, a designates a cylindrical holder closed at the bottom and provided with a cover l), which is hinged thereon and has extending from it, adjacent the hinge, a downwardly-curved lug'or projection c.
cl designates the handle of the receptacle, the same being formed of spring metal and preferably riveted at its lower end to the holder. When the cover is down or closed, the handle normally presses against the lug or projection c, and by simply grasping the holder in the hand and pressing the spring against the lug the cover maybe sprung open. The holder a should be slightly deeper than the can for the condensed milk, dac., which it is adapted to receive. It should also be of slightly-greater diameter than said can.
f designates the spoon cleaningr attachment. The body portion of said attachment consists of an annular piece of sheet metal, from which project downwardly clips g. This attachment is adapted to be placed in the holder over the can, its clips being interposed between the can and the holder'and bearing against either of them, or preferably, as shown in the drawings, at the top against the holder and near their lower ends against the can. IVhen the annular body portion of the attachment is formed, a projection h, having a curved inner edge t, is left, said projection being afterward turned up, as shown in the drawings.
In the modified form of the invention (shown in Fig. 3) each clip g is formed with a bend j, which bend when received by a bead 7a, which is spun in the holder when the same is formed, is adapted to steady the attachment.
It is preferable that the body portion of the attachment be slightly dished, as shown in the drawings, so that the wipings from the spoon will be the more free to drip into the can.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. A spoon-cleaning attachment for receptacles for condensed-milk cans and the like consisting of an ann ular body portion, and integral clips extending downwardly from said body portion and adapted to be interposed between said receptacle and the can contained therein, substantially as described.
