Be it known that LVITOLD DROSNESS, a subject of the Czar of Russia, residing in New York, borough of Manhattan, in the State of New York, haveinvented certain new and useful Improvements in Wristbands,of Which the following is a specification.
The Wristbands heretofore used by Workingmen and others for protecting the muscles of the wrist and strengthening the same consisted simply of a leather band provided with a buckle at one end, said band being tightly applied around the wrist. This band has the disadvantage that the pressure is not uniformly distributed around the wrist, and the band is liable to press on the Wrist at thev buckle in an uncomfortable manner.
The obj ect of my invention is to provide an improved Wristband by which these objections are avoided and Which extends With uniform pressure around the Wrist; and for this purpose the invention consists of a Wristband comprising a main portion provided With a buckle and an adjacent transverse slot at one end and the opposite insertion end of which is perforated and an auxiliary strap provided With a buckle and attached to the outside of the Wristband,said auxiliary buckle fastening the insertion end of the Wristband, While the insertion end of the auxiliary strap is connectedI with the buckle of the wristband, andthe insertion end of the main portion being passed through the said transverse slot, as Will be fully described hereinafter and finallyT pointed out in the claims.
In the accompanying draWings,Figure l represents a perspective view of my improved Wristband shown in position on the Wrist. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the Wristband, drawn on a larger scale. Fig. 3 is a circular transverse section through the same, and Fig. dis a top view of the Wristband shown as spread out.

Referring to the drawings, A represents the Wristbandproper, which is provided With a buckle a of the usual construction at one end and an insertion end b, provided with the usual perforations at the opposite end. The middle portion of the Wristband is made of the insertion end e of an auxiliary strap EV throughthe same, which is attached to the outside of the vWristband at fand provided With a buckle e at the opposite end and a movable loop f near the auxiliary buckle e, that serves to retain the insertion end b of the Wristband after the same has been applied to the auxiliary buckle.
W'hen applying the Wristband to the wrist, the insertion end l) of the main portion is iirst passed through the slot d and then connected with the buckle e and passed through the retaining-loop f of the auxiliary strap B. The insertion end e of the auxiliary strap is then passed through the buckle a of the Wristband and connected thereto, so that the Wristband is retained on the Wrist by the two straps and buckles. The second transverse slot d serves for retaining the insertion end of the auxiliary strapE in position aftenthe same has been applied to the buckle a of the Wristband. By this fastening of the Wristband at t-,Wo points exterior to the main portion of the Wristband the same is applied With uniform pressure around the Wrist, there being no undue pressure exerted thereon by the buckles. The Wristband can be readily applied by first buckling the in-V sertion end of the main portion to the buckle of the auxiliary strap and then the insertion end e of the auxiliary strap to the buckle a of the Wristband, as before described, or removed by disconnecting the tongues from the buckles in inverse order.
My improved Wristband obviates the dis advantages of the Wristbands heretofore in use, exerts a uniform pressure all around the Wrist, and prevents any injury to or undue pressure on the same.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent l. A Wristband, consisting of a main porL Ido vIO
tion provided with a buckle at one end andan opposite insertion end, a transverse slot near the buckle end, and an auxiliary strap attached to the outside of the main portion and provided With'a buckle near the buckle of the main portion, and also with an opposite insertion end, the insertion end of the main portion being passed through the said slot for buckling, substantially as set forth.
2. A Wristband, consisting` of a Wide main portion provided with a buckle at one end and an opposite insertion end, and an auxiliary strap attached to the main portion and provided with a buckle at one end and having an opposite insertion end, transverse slots in the main portion, near the buckle end of the same, said slots serving for the passage of the insertion ends of the main portion and auxiliary strap for connecting the same respectively with the buckles of auxiliary strap and main'portion, substantially as set forth.
