Description

IMPROVBD GURTAIN-FBTURE.
@its rtehulmferrn mry in tiges rttrs atmt aus mating part nf tige sam.
TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
Be it. known that I, C. F. HERRICK, of Independence, in the county of Buchanan, and State ot' Iowa, have invented certain new and useful' Improvements in Window-Curtain Fixtures; and I do hereby vdeclare that the following is a full and complete description of lthe same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, makingla part of this specification, in which- Figure 1 is a front view of a portion of the curtainwith the`ixture attached.
-Figure 2 is an end view.
Figure 3 is a. detached section.
Figure 4 is `a -front view.
` Like letters of reference refer to like parts in the several views.
' A is the curtainstick or rail, to which is secured the curtain B. To the centre of the curtain and stick is attached the yoke, in which are the pulley D and cam E, the ca .m being threaded or grooved as shown in iig. 1. Fig. 4 is a view of the curtain when secured by means of said cam and cord. The yoke C ex tends up backof the curtaimstick, and thus forms a support for said stick. I represents the cord, by means of which the curtain is drawn up. One end of this cord is attached to the loop shown in fig. 2, the other end passing down under the curtain and then up the other side and over the pulley I), then down and attached to the bottom of the curtain. When the curtain is to be raised the cord is pulled, which, passing under the curtain will roll it up, and
,when it is ashigh as desired all that is necessary to secure it is to pull the cord a. little to the right, and thus cause it to slip into the screw or groove of the cam, and -as said oem turns the cordwill beheld tightly between the cam and part c of the yoke, this being madev inclined, as shown, so that a large or small cord can be used. The cord when thus held is shown in figs. 3 and 4. When the curtain is to -be' lowered the cord ias moved back into the pulley -D .and vthen allowed to unroll, and the said curtain can be held at any point by simply moving the cord, as stated, and allowing it to be compressed between the yoke and cam, as shown ata', hg. 3, the weight.
ofV the curtain on the cord drawing it tighter and preventing it from slipping.
What I claim as my improvement, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is- The cam E, provided with a groove, in combination with the cord I, yoke C, and rail A, substantially as and for the purpose set forth. v
. C. F. HERRICK.
