GARMENLFITTER.
' SItEC,IEIGAJ.LI.O1\T forming part oft, Letters Patent No. 678,515, dated July 16, 190i.
Application iled March 14,1900. Serial No. 8,687; (No model.)
T0 a/ZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, DORA RENCHER, acitizen of the United States of America, and a resident of Salt Lake City, Salt Lake county, State of Utah, have invented a certain new and useful Dress-Fitter, of which the following'is a specification;
In the drawing I have shown a plan View of the garment-fitter.
Reference now being had to Ithe details of the drawing by letter, A and A and B and B' designate the waist-straps, made of any suitable material. The ends of the straps A and B are pivoted together at a'. The bandsO and O' surround the pairs of straps and have detents O2, designed to normally hold the straps in adj usted relations. By pushing the bands so that the detents will rest in the apertures P the straps may be easilyadjusted.
The various straps of the fitter are held together and allowed to slide longitudinally through the bands P. The back straps O, front bustestraps D, and connecting-straps E, F, and G are similarly constructed to be adjustable. To the upper end of stra-p Gare pivoted loops K, each holding a curved openended tube K,and passing through each tube is a rod M, about which is tightly coiled a fine wire m, which is provided to offer a' large amount of frictional surface to the inner surfaces of said tubes M, and, if desired, a set-,
`while an eye Q at the end of a curved coiledwire-covered rod R (which latter is pivoted to the end .of a strap H) is designed to engage a-lug H', which pivotally holds the strap H2 to the coiled-wire-covered rod R'. Said rod R passes through a curved open-ended tube R2, as does also the rod R, which is also covered with a closely-coiled wire. Said tubes R2 may be held in the loops by means of setscrews. The straps R8 are held to the straps C and D by means of pivots, as shown.
In adjusting the tter the apparatus is applied to one half of the body iirst, the eyes M and Q being caught over the lugs N and H', respectively. Then the rods M are run out to determine the size of the arm-opening and the rods R and R to determine the size of one half of the circumference of the neck, and Vsaid rods may be held in adj usted positions bymeans of set-screws. Afterward the fitter may be applied to the other half of the body and the measurements compared.
What I claim is- A dress-tter, consisting of the adjustable waist, bust and back straps pivoted together as described, the adjustable under-arm straps and adjustable connections between the latter and said bust and back straps, the loops having pivotal connection with the upper ends of the bust and back straps, combined with the curved open-ended tubes mounted in said loops, the adjustable shoulder-straps, the curved neck and arm rods, and coiled wire about said rods, the latter having pivotal connectionwith the outer ends of said shoulder-straps, and passing through said tubes, the lugs at the outer ends of one pair of shoulder-straps and the eyes formed in the projecting flat ends of the rods at the ends of the other pair of shoulder-straps, whereby as said eyes are brought into engagement with the lugs,the two curved neck-rods are brought together, forming substantially a semicircle, as set forth.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand in the presence of two witnesses.
DORA RENOHER.
