MANIFOLD-COPYING SHEET.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 677,242, dated'June 25, 1901.

To all whom, it' may conceive:
Be it known that I, ANDREW LEGK'IE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Baltimore, State of Maryland, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Manifold-Copying Sheets, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to manifold-copying sheets for railway, express, and other busi. ness uses.
The object of the invention is to provide a manifolding-sheet of two sections, which may be folded in such a manner as to enable the original and the duplicate copy to be made at the same writing and which when unfolded will present on the same side or surface both copies, whereby the two copies being uppermost maybe signed on the same side without turning the sheet over.
The invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which;-
Figure l illustrates the printed side of the sheet in the dat or unfolded condition. Fig. 2 is a cross-sectional view through the sheet in the folded condition and also through the carbon-sheet in the position ready for writing. Fig. 3 is a front view of the sheet in the folded condition ready for writing, and shows the upper corner of the original copy and the corner of the carbon-sheet turned over.
Referring to the drawings by letter, A designates the sheet, which is divided at the center into two separable sections ct and b by a line of perforations or indentations c. At either side of the line of perforations c the sheet is provided with parallel lines d d', which serve as guides for folding the sheet into three pages, one upon the other, as shown in Fig. 2. It will thus be seen that the two equal separable sections a and h are laid off to be folded into three pages a', b', and c of equal size. The two side pages or portions a and b/ constitute the receipt and duplicate, and the middle portion c is to contain any memorandum or conditions on which the goods are accepted and the receipt given printed in duplicate on opposite sides of the` central line c.
In folding the sheet into three pages the end portion or page b', which is numbered 3, is first folded on the line cl backward over the middle portion c', and a second fold is made on the line alloy turning said middle and end portions c' and b backward beneath the portion a'. It will be seen by thus folding the three portions or pages that the front of the page b', No. 3, confronts the back of the page a', No. l. A carbon-sheet e, carbonized on one side, is then inserted between the pages a and U, with the carbon side confronting the page U, and the folded sheet is then in condition for manifolding. By writing on the page a. an impression through the carbon will be made on the page b. It will now be seen that when the sheet is unfolded, as shown in Fig. l, the two copies will appear on the saine side of the sheet. The two copies may then be separated by tearing on the cen-- tral line c.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
An improved blank for manifold copying, comprising a sheet provided with a central row of perforations or indentations, c, dividing it into two equal separable sections and also provided with two printed lines7 d, and, d', one on each side of and parallel with the said row of perforations or indentations and dividing the sheet into three equal pages adapted to be folded one upon the other, the two side pages containing duplicate forms and the central page containing memoranda in duplicate on opposite sides of the said central row of perforations or indentations, as and for the purpose set forth.
