Be it known that I, JOSEPH CONLEY, a citizen' of the United States, residing at Mound City, in the county of Holt and State of Missouri, have invented new and useful Improvements in a Combined Garment and Hammock, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in combined garments and hammocks, the object being to provide a hammock of such construction that the parts which constitute the same may be worn upon the person, as will be hereinafter set forth.

In the accompanying drawings, Figure l is a view showing the appearance of the end sections of the hammockfwhen worn as a garment-for instance, as a blouse and overalls. Fig. 2 is a view showing such end sections of the hammock spread out. Fig. 3 is a detail View showing means for connecting the end sections of the hammock or the blouse and overalls together. Fig. 4 is a side elevation showing the parts arranged for use as a hammock.

The main or leading object of my invention is to provide a hammock the parts being so i constructed that they are susceptible of other uses.

In military service and elsewhere it is desirable to provide blouses and overalls for use while doing rough work and as an addition or accompaniment to the usual uniform,

and such 'garments are usually made of canvas or like fabric. In the make-up of the garments in accordance with my invention I provide the blouse A near its collar with loops a a, which are secured so as to be covered by the f collar when the collar is turned down, and the and rings provide means for connecting the `waist portion of the overalls to the skirt end H of the blouse, so that these parts may be utilized as the end sections of a hammock. The piece of fabric B is slightly wider at its Waist end to provide flaps B', and below the flaps there maybe secured strips or bands b', having on one side hooks c and on the other side eyes c', and the lower edge has connected thereto loops d d. The section of the fabric B is divided from its lower edge to a point about opposite the lower ends of the flaps B', and where divided I provide on one side hooks c and on the other side eyes e', said hooks and eyes being adapted to be placed in engagement with the hooks and eyes c c to form the legs of the overalls, the point of junction being covered by the iiaps e2. The hooks and eyes e e' may be connected or placed in engagement with each other to hold the seam together when it is desired to provide a substantially rectangular section or end portion of a hammock.

When the blouse and overalls are connected together, they may be suspended by the use of suitable supports and cords or ropes, which are passed through the loops a and d at the ends of the hammock-sections. It will be noted from the foregoing that a person having the blouse and overalls provided with myimprovements may readily utilize the same as a hammock.

The hammock supports or sticks are preferably made up of sections It la, which may be pivoted or otherwise connected together near one end, so that when spread apart the ends will cross.

I do not wish to limit myself to the special fastening devices, as hooks and eyes, snaphooks and rings, or buttons and buttonholes, as other equivalent means may be used without departing from my invention.

I claiml. A union garment made up of two pieces, one piece being constructed for use as a blouse and the other piece as overalls, the overalls having leg-sections which are divided on their inner sides to admit of the same being connected to form a piece of fabric which is substantially rectangular in shape, the parts of the union garment having means for attaching one to the other and means at opposite ends for suspending the connected garments for use as a hammock.

A union garment comprising a coat which is provided adjacent to its collar with aplurality of converging loops, and atits lower or skirt end with a series of fastening devices, in combination with a pair of overalls made up to provide flaps B and leg-sections, each leg-section having on its longitudinal edges separable connecting means, loops secured to the lower ends of the leg-sections and connecting means for engagement with the fastening devices on the skirt end of the coat, substantially as shown and for the purpose set forth.

1. A union garment consisting of a pair of overalls made up from a bifurcated piece of fabric,- the portions on each side of the dividing-line having attached fastening means,and on the outer edges flaps, a series of fastening devices attached to the outer edges of the divided portions, fastening devices attached near the waistband and loops on the ends opposite the waistband., in combination with a coat which is provided near its collar with a plurality of loops, and at its skirt portion with fastening devices which are adapted to engage with the fastening devices on the waistband of the overalls, substantially as shown and for the purpose set forth.

The union garment herein set forth,com prising a body-garment having adjacent to its collar portion a plurality of suspendingloops and a series of fasteners attached to its bottom or lower edge and a bifurcated nether garment, each of its leg portions being divided, the dividing-line running vertically downward from the front opening in the trunk portion and having means at its upper edge complemental to the fastening means on the bottom edge of the body-garment, loops attached to the bottom or lower ends of each of the divided leg-sections, means for securing together the adjacent edges o f said divided leg-sections whereby the said union garment may be worn as separate garments or united to be used as a hammock.
