Description
n 672,292. I I i o H. A. SKREBERG. Pawn 6, 90 VERTIGALLY MOVABLE HARNESS HANGER (Application filed. Aug. 2, 1900.)
(N0 Model.)
HANS A. SKREBERG, OF BIGBEND, MINNESOTA.
VIETlGALLY- MOVABLE HARNESS HANGER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 672,292, dated April 16, 1901.
Application filed August 2, 1900- To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HANS A. SKREBERG, a citizen of the United States, residing at Bigbend, in the county of Cottonwood and State of Minnesota, have invented new and useful Improvements in Vertically-Movable Hangers or Supports, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in vertically-movable hangers or supports, and pertains to a hanger or support which is particularly intended for supporting harness in stables, barns, houses, and stores, though it may be used for other analogous purposes without departing from the spirit and scope of my invention.
The object of my invention is to provide a vertically-movable hanger or support upon which the object to be supported can be placed and carried upward in an elevated position out of the way and readily and quickly lowered within reach for the purpose of removing it from the said support.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure l is a perspective view of a support or hanger embodying my invention, the same being shown in an elevated position. Fig. 2 is a side elevation of the same, the support being shown in solid lines in an elevated position and in dotted lines in its lowered position.
Referring now to the drawings, A represents a suitable support, which maybe in the form of a post, as here shown, or which may be the wall of a building and by which the invention is supported. Connected at its ends to the said support A, whether in the form of a post or constituted by the wall of a room of any building, is a rod B, which has its ends turned inward and connected to the said support, whereby the said rod between its ends is supported away from the support. This rod Bis vertically arranged and serves, through the medium of a suitable eye I), to support the upper end of the vertically-movable standard G, constituting one portion of my vertically-movable hanger or support.
The lower end of the standard 0 has one end of a link D pivotally connected therewith, the other end of the link being pivotally connected with the support A through the medium of suitable pivotal connections Serial No. 26,692. (No model.)
E. As here shown, the link D is constituted of a U-shaped wire with its lower end bent outward and extending into suitable apertures in the ears of the connection E and the double portion of the link being pivotally connected with the lower end of the standard 0.
Projecting from the standard 0, preferably near its upper end, and connected thereto in any suitable manner is an approximately horizontally arranged supporting-bar G, upon which the harness or other object to be supported is placed.
The lower end of the standard 0 is provided with a laterally-projecting handle F, by means of which the standard 0, and consequently the supporting bar or arm G, is vertically moved, as indicated in Fig. 2.
When it is desired to lower the support or hanger, a slightly-outward pull upon the handle F will cause the pivotally-connected ends of the standard C and link D to be carried outside of the lower pivotal connection of the said link and cause it to lower, as shown in dotted lines, Fig. 2. When the device is to be elevated, an upward pull upon the handle F will carry it up, and then it is moved inward to carry the upper end of the link D to a point inside of the pivotal point of the lower end of the link, as shown in Fig. 2, whereby it will be supported in the elevated position against depression from the weight of any object placed upon the arm or support G, as will be readily understood.
By means of a device of this character the harness or other object supported thereby may be quickly and readily elevated out of the way and as quickly and readily lowered for the purpose of bringing it within reach of the operator to be removed from the bar G or to bring the bar G within easy reach of the operator for the placing of the harness or other object thereon.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
l. A hanger, comprising a vertically-movable member having a laterally-projecting supporting-arm, a vertically-arranged supporting-guide for one end of the said verti cally-movable member, and a link having one end connected to the other end of the vertically-movable member and its opposite end adapted to be connected to a support, sub stantially as described.
2. A hanger comprising a vertically-arranged standard, a support, a verticallymovable connection between one end of the standard and the said support, and a vertically-swinging connection between the opposite end of the standard and the said support,
the said standard provided with a lateral1y-' support having respectively a vertically-arranged rod and an eye slidable thereon, a link having one end pivotally connected with the standard, the opposite end of the said link being pivotally connected with the support, and a laterally-projecting snpportingarm carried by the said standard, substantially as described.
5. A hanger comprising a supporting member, a standard, a vertically-movable connection for one end of the standard, a swinging connection for the other end of the standard, the standard provided at its upper portion with a laterally-projecting supporting-arm and at its lower portion with an operatinghandle, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
HANS A. SKREBERG. Witnesses:
J. J. STENNER, W. F. HAASE.
