UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ARTHUR C. PREECE, OF NEWPORT, RHODE ISLAND.
TOILET ARTICLE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 671,837, dated April 9, 1901.
Application filed October 23, 1900. Serial No. 34.025. (No model.)
To all whom it may con/cern,.-
Be it known that I, ARTHUR C. PREECE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Newport, in the county of Newport and State of Rhode Island, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Toilet Articles, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to an improved pocket or household article combining a comb and brush and match holder, mirror,`and matchscratcher, the object being the production of an attractive, simple, and inexpensive article which will combine the articles stated in a perfect and practical manner.
To attain the desired object, my invention consists of a combined article embodying the novel construction and arrangement of parts for service, substantially as disclosed herein.
Figure l represents a perspective view of my article looking at the front thereof. Fig. 2 represents a similar view taken from the back or rear, and Fig. 3 represents a sectional view.
My improved combined comb and match holder, mirror, and match-scratcher is made of any desired and preferred material and of any size, according to circumstances, and comprises the back A, made of a single piece of material, and the front B, also made of a single piece of material and connected to the back by the securing means, and the article is provided with a suitable fastening-say a pocket D by means of the line of stitches or securing means D' and adjacent thereto the brush-holder D2. At the other side I provide the pocket E to receive and hold the mirror E', and below the mirror I form the slot F, 4o which provides the match pocket or holder G, and to the outer face of the match-holder is secured the match-scratcher H.
From this construction it is evident that I provide a device of ornamental appearance which can be carried upon the person or hung upon the Wall, making either a handy article for personal or household use and which combines all the articles in a perfect manner and as cheaply as either one of said articles would 5o cost separately, thus combining all the requisites to render the device useful and practical.
I claim- The toilet article herein shown and described, consisting of a back piece, a front piece secured to said back piece except at one corner, a seam from the end of said opening at the corner to the bottom thus forming a vertical pocket, a strip secured to said front 6o piece said front piece being further provided with a slit to form a mouth of a match-pocket and a cleat above the match-pocket to support and hold a mirror.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
ARTHUR C. PREECE.`
