JACOB H. FLEISOH, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
NECKWEAR-FRAM E.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 668,403, dated February 19, 1901.
Application filed December 8. 1900. Serial No. 39,194. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, J AOOB H. FLEISOH, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Neckwear-Frames, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to a frame upon which neckwear may be securely fastened by means of the neckbands in such position as to hold the article againstinj ury or displacement during shipment and to display it when on sale and also in such a manner as to prevent injury to the article, as results from retaining means sometimes employed.
One feature of my invention consists in a light metallic frame having suitable longitudinal bars at the ends and also at intermediate points, if more than one row or series of articles is to be held, from which longitudinal bars rise peculiarly-formed supportingstuds with hooked ends, which prevent accidental displacement of the article, prevent the article moving upward in the box, and also protect the article from anythingthat may be placed upon the framesuch, for instance, as another packing-box or other frames of goods.
Another feature of my invention consists in providing the frame with means for holding it in one end of a box to prevent movement of the neckwear in shipment, such means preferably consisting of vertically-extending arms having hooked ends which engage over the edge of the box and prevent longitudinal movement of the frame. The frame is preferably made to fit the box transversely.
My invention will be fully understood upon reference to the accompanying drawings, in
which Figure 1 is a perspective view of the frame with the articles applied to one side thereof and the frame located in the box. The articles are omitted from the other side for clearness. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the frame, and Fig. 3 is a detail view showing one mode of constructing the frame.
1 represents a box such as is ordinarily used for inclosing neckwear or other articles, and 2 is a frame which fits transversely within said box and is provided with retainingarms 3, formed with hooks 4, that engage over the edge of one end of the box to prevent longitudinal movement of the frame in the box. The frame is formed with transverse bars 5 6 and longitudinal bars '7 8. From the longitudinal bars rise sup porting-studs 9, preferably inclined toward the top of the frame. These may be three or more in number, according to convenience and the number of articles that it is desired to mount upon them. It is convenient to have two intermediate longitudinal bars 8, so that the articles may be stretched between the studs 9 on these intermediate longitudinal bars and those projecting from the end bars '7. The studs 9 have hooked ends 10, extending substantially parallel to the top of the box. These serve the threefold purpose of preventing displacement of the neckbands or other portions through which the articles are secured thereon, of preventing the frame moving upward in the box, and of preventing anything which is placed on the top of the frame-such, for instance, as another frame--from coming in contact with the goods supported on the studs.
A frame constructed as above described is readily removable from the box for the purpose of hanging it or suspending it in a position to display the goods. It is, moreover, cheap in construction, very light and durable, and very convenient for use. The longitudinal bars of the frame may be made of a double-wire construction, as suggested in Fig. 3, in which lower strand 11 is continuous and passes around the bars 5 and 6, is then folded upon itself and bent up, as shown, and then back upon the bottom strand to form the studs 9 with their hooked ends 10. The securing-arms 3 may be soldered or otherwise secured to the top bar 5, as may be convenient.
Having thus described my invention, the following is what I claim as new therein. and desire to secure by Letters Patent:
1. A packing and display frame for supporting neckwear and other like articles by the neckbands thereof, comprising a supporting-base formed by transverse bars and longitudinal bars connected with the transverse bars, and pairs of supporting-studs projecting upwardly from the base, the studs of each pair being carried by the respective longitudinal bars of the frame and spaced apart to adapt the studs to distend the neckbands, the said studs being provided with enlargements or hooks at the ends to prevent displacement of the neckband therefrom.
2. A frame for supporting neckwear by the neckbands thereof, comprising a flat rectangular base having pairs of supporting-studs on two parallel members of the frame and extending upwardly from the plane of the base and formed with hooked or deflected ends extending in parallel planes whereby they pre vent displacement of the neckbands of the article exhibited but permit ready removal thereof as explained.
3. A display-frame constructed of a flat rectangular base having transverse and longitudinal bars of which the longitudinal bars are formed of double thicknessand have the upper thickness deflected upwardly from the plane of the base, then deflected at an angle, then downwardly to the plane of the base to form supporting-studs with hooked ends; the studs thus formed being located in pairs on parallel members of the base and thereby 25 adapted to stretch the neckbands of neckwear or the like between them.
4:. A display-frame for supporting neckwear or the like by the neckbands thereof, comprising a rectangular frame with intermediate lon- 3o gitudinal cross-bars, the side members as well as the intermediate longitudinal cross-bars being arranged parallel and each formed of double thickness of material and having its upper thickness deflected at corresponding 35 JACOB H.
