The *slot 22, which is wider than the slot 23, receives the main or body portion ot` thelmnd, and the smaller lelet receives the tongue. lhe shoulders 24., formed by the reduction of the tongue, abut against theI adjacent blade and prevent the `band from slipping through the Slot S23, and the elamping-band is provided with an exteriorindentation 25, whieh embeds the metal in ,the wood. as elearl)x shown iniFig. This construction enables the blades to mounted on an ordinary spring-actuated roller in various positions, so that they will extend radiallytherefrom at derent points. When the spring-actuated roller is rotatedA by the openingr of the screen-door, the blades create a current of air of sufficient strength to prevent the entrance of flies and otherinsects.
lt will be seen that the. fan attachment is exceedingly Simple and inexpensive in oonstrnetion, that it is adapted to be readily applied to a door, and that the spring-actuated roller and the blades will be rapidly rotated when the door is opened and closed. It will also be apparent that the blades, which are easily and cheaply eonstrueted ofa single piece oi' sheet metal, are adapted to be readily clamped on the roller in any desired position.

exterior of thev be readily said blades being provided atthe endsof the intermediate eonneetingr portion with slot-s,4 combined with clamping bands passing through the slots and arranged on the roller and on the exteriorof the Said intermediate portions7 substantially as described.
2. In a device of the class described, a roller provided with blades arranged in pairs, the -niembers of each pair bein;r connected by an intermediate portion conforming to theconfiguration of the roller` said'blades being` provided at the ends oitheI connecting portions with slots, one of the Slots beingshorter than the other, com bined with the clamping-bands passing around the roller and the exteriorof the ronneeting portions provided with tongues passing through the smaller slots and inlet-looked with the main or body portion of the bands, substantiallyY aS described. In a deviee of the class described, the l combination of a pairof blades provided with an intermediate'connecting portion and havkingslots o i different lengt-hs at their inner ends, and a clamping-band provided at one end with a red need tongue and having,r a slot lat its other end to rene-ive the tongue, the i tongue and theslotted end of the band being l paseed through the slots, substantially as and i for the purpose described. Y n testimony that l foregoing as l my own l have hereto atlixed my signature in t the presence of two witnesses. l l 1 l claim the RUEY PERT.
