COMBINED STAMP AND COURT PLASIER RECEPTA CLE.
i SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 656,254, dated August 21, 1900.
' Application filed February 16, 1900. Serial No. 6,448. (No model.)
tacle, of which the following is a specifica tion, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forminga part thereof, in which similar letters ofreference indicate corresponding parts. I p
This invention relates to an improved combined stamp and court-plaster receptacle;
and the object thereof is to provide a compact article of this character which is adapted for beingcarried inns pocket without liability of injury to its contents. The de-Q Vice embodies two swinging compartments or boxes arranged within a U'shaped shell composed of a single piece of sheet metal,
wherebya durable and inexpensive article is produced.
The invention will be hereinafter fully described, and specifically set forth in thean pexed claim. I
In the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, Figure 1 is a perspective view of my improved device, illustrating the same in closed condition; and
Fig. 2 is'a plan view showing the' boxes or compartments thrown open.
In the practice of my'invention I provide a rectangular casing or shell A,.of-U shape in end elevation and embodying oppositely- I locatedside walls wand a bottom wall a, all
being formed from a singlcpiece of'sheet metal, prefe'rablyaluminiugn; but I do not confine myself tothense nflanyspecifimmae terial, as it is obvious that the article could be made of celluloid, hard rubber, or anyv other suitable material. Located within this shell are two boxes or compartments B, which are respectively secured to the shell by means,
of pins or pivots b, which pass through the said boxes and also through the walls a of theshell A, to which they are securely rivet -I claim as new,
.ed, welded, or otherwise fastened at their ends, whereby said boxes are securely fas-' tened to the shell A, but allowed freely to swing therein.
Each box B is provided with a projected with a number of postage-stamps, and it is obvious that while the compartments are closed within the shell the contents are securely protected against injury and that the device can 'be convenientlycar-ried in the pocket and the contents'can be readily removed as desired. I
I do not confine myself to thespecific use of the device as a means for carrying courtplaster and postage-stamps, as it may also be used for car-tickets or other similar articles; neither do I confine myself to the exact proportions as shown, in the drawings.
Having thus described my invention, What and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-- A receptacle for stamps and court-plaster and like-materials, comprising a case A, constructed as specified, and two boxes B, B, pivoted in said case at b and b, and arranged to turn separately, in and-out of said case, and
formed with thumb-pieces b and b, and
hinged lids, and finger-openings b and 11 all substantially as and for the purpose setforth.
In testimony that-I claim the foregoing as my invention I have signed myname, in presence of two witnesses, this 5th day of February, 1900.
