J. F. MEEGAN HOLDER Filed Jan. 14, 1924 INVENTOR ATTORNEY I WITNESS:
Patented Dec. 2, 19245:.
isiatez JOHN F. MEEGAN, OF FITGHB'URG, MASSACHUSETTS.
HOLDER.
Appflication filed January 14, 1924. Serial No. 686,151.
T 0 all whom it may concern Be it known that I, JOHN F. MEEGAN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Fitchburg, in the county of Worcester and State of Massachusetts, have invented new and useful Improvements in Holders, of which the following is a specification.
The object of this invention is to provide means whereby a vanity case or the like, gloves, a handkerchief and similar articles can be attached to the person so that it is not necessary to carry such articles in the hand or a pocketbook.
This invention also consists in certain other features. of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and specifically pointed out in the appended claims.
In describing my invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawings wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which 2- Figure 1 is a side View of the device.
Figure 2 is a face view.
Figures 3 and 4c are detail views.
In these views, 1 indicates a strip formed of suitable material and having an offset part 2 to which is fastened a cap 8. A short strip 4 is pivotally connected with the shank of the strip 1 by the rivets 5 and the offset part of this strip 4 has secured thereto a cap 6, the two caps being oppositely arranged and of cup-shape so that a powder box, shown at 7, or a similar article can be placed between the caps and held thereby, it being understood that the strips are flexible enough to permit the caps to be separated a suflicient distance to permit one strip to be moved laterally to move its cap from over the article to permit the article to be removed or its contents tobe gotten at. The strip 1 has its offset part provided with an extension 8 which is bent to form a loop so that gloves, handkerchiefs or the like can be placed between the extension and the other part of the strip. The free end of the strip 1 is provided with a hook 9 and a pin 10 is carried by this end of the device so that the device can be hooked in a belt or other article of clothing or attached to the clothing by a pin.
From the foregoing it will be seen that I have provided means whereby powder boxes and the like, gloves, handkerchiefs and other articles can be supported by a belt or other article of clothing so that they will be readily accessible and need not be carried by the hands or placed in a pocketbook or other receptacle.
It is thought from the foregoing description that the advantages and novel features of my invention ill be readily apparent.
I desire it to be understood that I may make changes in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, provided that such changes fall within the scope of the appended claims.
What I claim is 1. A device of the class described comprising a pair of strips pivotally connected together and formed of flexible material, a cap of cup-shape carried by each strip and arranged opposite to each other so that an article can be placed between the caps and means carried by one strip whereby the device can be attached to an article of cloth- 2. A device of the class described comprising a pair of strips pivotally connected together and formed of flexible material, oppositely arranged caps carried by the strips and arrangedto receive and support an article between them, means carried by one strip for engaging an article of clothing and a loop formed on said strip for supporting gloves, a handkerchief or the like.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature.
JOHN F. MEEGAN.
