' UHURNS.
TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
Be it known that I', AARON VOTAW, of New Garden, in the county of Columbiana, and State of Ohio, have l invented certain new and useful improvements in Churns, 85e.; and I do hereby declare that the following is a fulland complete description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being had to the aecompanying drawings, making a part of this specification, in which- Figure 1 is a side view.
Figure 2 is a horizontal section in the direction ofthe line me in tig. 1.

A represents the foot-piece. From this extend up the standards or posts B. D D are braces securedto the base of foot-piece A and standards B, which are to aid in strengthening and supporting said posts. The case C of the churn is balanced on the shafts a, which have their bearings in the top of the standards as shown, being secured to the sides of the ease Inside of the case, and secured to theends of the saine, are the breakers E, ive at each end. There may be more or less as thought desirable. Extending across the bottom of the ease are the ribs H, and tw'o similar ones, I, secured to the tp. J is the lid or cover, which is held in place when the churn is inoperationby means of the rod rl, which extends across the top, the ends being held in the loops e at the sides. 4
The churn is operated by being made to rotate, either by hand or any desirable means. The case being revolved in this way causes the cream to be thrown violently from one end of the churn to the other, the breakers at the end dividing and breaking the cream, which is further agitated by the ribs H and I as it ows over them. By thislneans the cream is readily and easily chnrned. I
