Description

WILLIAM H. GHRIsTiE, or ALBANY, NEW YORK. Letters Parent No. 64,489, dated May 7, 1867.
IMPROVEMENT IN SHOE- LAGERS.
TO ALL WHOM I'l MAY CONCERN:
Be it known that I, VILLIAM H. CHRISTIE, of Albany, in the county of Albany, and in the Stnteof New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Shoe, Corset, and other Lacers; and do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon.
In the annexed drawings, making part of this specification, A A represent the two parts of the shoe or boot, which meet, or nearly meet, on the upper side of the foot and instep, and to which the hooks B B are attached. The hooks B B may be formed of sheet metal. Narrow strips of meta-l can be taken and bent, so as to form a hook, as represented, the two ends of said strip meeting,l and projecting on the under side of the hook, so that said entls muy be thrust through an opening in the latter Ina-de to receive them, and then bent outwards from euch other and pressed down, for the purpose of making a'seeure and cheap fastening. This mode of forming the hook is seen in Figure 2.
I am aware that various kinds of hooks have been used for shoe-lasers.
As a new article of manufacture I claim- The hook, doubled at the stem and curve, with the ends thereof proJecting below the stem, for insertiwng through the shoe or other article and clamping thereto, When formed of one strip of metal and constructed :tud
arranged as herein specified. v
In testimony that I claim the foregoing'I have hereunto set my hanrl this 2&1 day of February, 1867.v WM. H. CHRISTIE.
