TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
Be it known that I, J. F. DUBBER, of Brooklyn, in' the county of Kings, and State of New York, have invented anew and improved CorsetFasteningv; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming part of this specification,
in which- Figure 1 represents a sectional front elevation of this invention.
Figure 2 is a transverse section of the same.
Figures 3 and 4 are perspective views of the two parts of the fastening detached.
Similar letters of' reference indicate corresponding parts. l
To enable othersskilled in the art to makeand use my invention, I will'proceed to describe the same.
A A- represent the springs of a corset, which are placed in the seams B B in the usual manner. Said springs tit into slides C C', which are struck up or otherwise 'produced of sheet metal or other suitable materia-l. in the form shown in figs. 3 and 4. These slides are -made with lips, c e', so 4that they fit over the springs with a sort of snap, so that the same, when attached to the springs, will retain their position without 'an additional fastening, and at the same time the springs can be readily withdrawn and reinserted without unravelling the seams. The slides C are provided with T-shaped slots, a, intended to receive buttons, b, which project from the slides C so that when the several slides are attached to their springs, and the buttons b are made to catch in the T-shapefl slots a, a rm and substantial fastening for the corset is obtnincd.- By combining the fustenings.
with the slides, the springs are left entirely intact, no perforation being required either for rivets or. for other purposes, and consequently their full strength is preserved. Furthermore, 'if one of the springs breaks, it can be readily replaced, and itis not necessary to buya pair ot' springs for the sake of replacing one, because my springs are all alike, While ordinary corset Asprings have the fastening permanently attached to' them, and can thereforenot be interchanged. And, furthermore, the slides can he introduced or removed without rxnovinig the springs, and aft-er the springs have been pressed down into the lips or snaps of the slides, .they retain their place rmly, and said springs are not liable to become displaced spontaneously.
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The slides C C made with lips c cY to operate in combination with the springs A A and seams B B', in the manner and for the purpose described.
