We Moan]: PETERS ca, Pam-04.1mm. WASHINGTON n. c.
DAVID REIOI-IBLUM AND MAX REICHBLUM, OF l/VHEELING, WESIT VIRGINIA.
COMBINED CUFF HOLDER AND BUTTON.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 644,460, dated February 2'7, 1900. Application filed December 2, 1899. Serial No.739,014. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.
Be it known that we, DAVID REICHBLUM and MAX REICHBLUM, citizens of the United States, residing at Wheeling, in the county of Ohio and State of est Virginia, have invented a new and useful Combined Cuff Holder and Button, of which the following is a specification.
Our invention relates to cuff-holders; and it consists of a combined cuif holder and button, the object of which is to produce an article of this character that combines simplicity, neatness, a minimum cost to manufacture, and efficiency; and with these and minor objects in view ourinvention consists of the parts and combination of parts, as will be more fully hereinafter pointed out.
In the drawings forming a part of this specification, Figure 1 is a perspective View of a portion of a sleeve and cuff with our invention attached. Fig. 2 is a top plan view of our invention. Figs. 3, 4:, and 5 are detail views. Fig. 6 is aview similar to Fig. 1, showing the application of our invention with a different style of cuif.
Referring to the drawings by reference-numerals, 1 represents a portion of a sleeve, and 2 a cuff of any desired style or pattern.
3 is the main body of our invention, consisting of an elongated flatspring-metal strip, the ends of which are bent up to form sockets 4 and 5, as clearly shown in the various figures of the drawings.
6 is a spring-clasp of approved construction mounted upon an arm 7, which is securely but loosely fastened in the socket 4 on one end of the main body 3, the upper member of the clasp being roughened, as at 8,for obvious purposes.
9 is a miniature eyebolt, the shank of which is securely but loosely secured in the socket 5 on one end of the main body 3.
10 is a link cuff-button, the shank of which is loosely secured in the eye of the eyebolt 9, as will be seen in Fig. 3. The button 11 on the shank is pivoted, thereby facilitating the insertion of the button in the buttonholes of the cuffs, as will be readily understood.
12 is a sleeve slidably secured on the main body between the ends, from which projects upwardly a shank 13,surmounted bya button 14:, which, as shown in Fig. 4, may be pivoted, as described in connection with the button 11.
When it is desired to apply our invention, the button 11 is turned, as indicatedin dotted lines in Fig. 3. The button is then inserted in the buttonholes near the outer edge of the cuff. The button let is then secured in the buttonholes at the inner edge of the cuif. The cuff may then be secured to the shirtsleeve by means of the clasp 6, as shown in Fig. 1.
From the various views illustrating our invention it will be seen that the cuff-button is free to be moved in the eyebolt 9.
The button lat by means of the sleeve 12 may be adjusted along the main body 3 according to the width of the cuff with which our attachment is used, thus adapting it to any width or pattern of cuff.
Having thus fully described our invention,
what we claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. A cuif-holder, comprising a main body, a clasp secured on one end of the same, a linkbutton loosely secured to the other end thereof, and a slidable button mounted on the main body, substantially as described.
2. A cud-holder, comprising a main body, having integral sockets at each end, a springclasp pivoted in one of said sockets, an eyebolt pivoted in the other socket, a link-button loosely secured in the eye of said bolt, and abutton slidably mounted on said main body, substantially as described.
3. A combined cuff holder and button, comprising a main body, having integral sockets at each end, a spring-clasp pivoted in one of said sockets, an eyebolt pivoted in the other socket, a link-button, having a pivoted member, loosely secured in the eye of said bolt, a sleeve adj ustably secured on the main body,
an upwardly-extending shank integral therewith, and a button pivoted to said shank, substantially as described.
