INCUBATOR.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 643,753, dated February 20, 1900.
A plication filed August 1'7, 1 8 9 9.
.distributed from the center to the circumference in the top of a tank by means of a deflector inthe tank and fresh air from the bottom and center, as required, to produce and maintain an equal temperature in the eggchamber below the tank.
My invention consists in the arrangement and combination of a tank, means for heating and distributing water, and a tubular post and air-chamber for supporting the tank and distributing air under the tank, as hereinafter set forth, pointed out in my claims, and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which-- Figure 1 is aperspective view of my incubator supported upon legs fixed thereto. Fig. 2 is a transverse sectional view showing the forms and relative positions of different operative parts.
The letter A designates a circular doublewalled case, in which the annular space between the walls is filled with mineral wool or other suitable material.
B is a tubular post and fresh-air conductor fixed in the center of the bottom of the case.
It has a circular air-distributing chamber 13 fixed to its top, that has a plurality of perforations in its wall equidistant from each other, through which fresh air is discharged radially to circulate in the egg-chamber to mingle with the air warmed by heat radiated from a tank 0, fitted in the case on top of said post and chamber and supported by said post and airchamber. In the tank 0 is suspended, by means of fixed hangers, a hot-water distributer in the form of a circular plate or deflector D, that has a conical center or apex f, upon which hot water is discharged to overflow the entire plate, as required, to be distributed from the center to the circumference.
H is a hot-water heater connected with the top and center of the tank by a tube 716 in such a manner that hot water will be forced Serial No. 727,544. (No model.)
through said tube and delivered into the tank at its circumference by means of the suspended plate D, that inclines downward from its apex f to its circumference. The lower portion of the water-heater is connected with the tank by a tube that terminates in the center of the tank in such a manner as to cause hot water as its degree of heat is diminishedito move toward the center of the tank and from thence through the tube 70 to return to the bottom of the heater. A con1= plete and continuous circulation of water is then produced from center to circumference and from circumference to center.
Egg-trays mare placed upon suitable supportsin the bottom of the egg-,chainberin such a manner that air can circulate around eggs placed upon the woven-Wire bottoms of the trays and escape through a vent n in the wall of the case.
operation and utility of my invention will be understood by persons familiar with the art to which it pertains, and
That I therefore claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent therefor,'is
1. In an incubator, a circular water-tank, a tube connected with the top and center of the tank and a deflector-plate inside of the tank for distributing hot water from the center of the tank to all parts of the circumference of the tank, and a tubular post having an air-distributer at its top under the center of the tank for supporting the tank and distributing air under the tank, arranged and combined to operate in the manner set forth for the purposes stated. I
2. In an incubator, a circular case, a Watertank fitted in the top of the case, a tube fixed in the top and center of the case and com= municating with a water-heater, a metal at the top of the post and under the center [6 plate having a central apex fixed in the tank of the tank for supporting the tank and disto distribute water from the center to all tributing air under the tank, all arranged and parts of the circumference of the tank, a wacombined to operate in the manner set forth 5 oer-heater outside of the case a tube confor the purposes stated.
nected with the lower portion of the heater NEWTON G. SPRAGUE. and terminating in the center of the tank, a Witnesses: tubular post fixed in the bottom and center R. G. ORWiG,
of the case and an air-distributing chamber THOMAS G. ORWIG.
