UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JULIUS WEZEL, OF LEIPSIO, GERMANY.
APPARATUS FOR AND PROCESS OF PRODUCING STEAM IMPREGNATED WITH HERBS OR OTHER EXTRACTQ SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 639,878, dated December 26, 1899.
Application filed March 2 8, 1 89 9.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JULIUS WEZEL, a sub ject of the Emperor of Germany, residing at Leipsic, Saxony, Germany, have invented a new and useful Apparatus and Process for Producing Steam 'Impregnated with Herbs or other Extracts, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
The present invention consists of a sprayhead for impregnating steam with herbs in connection with medicinal steam-baths and inhaling apparatus and embraces the details of construction hereinafter set forth, and particularly pointed out in the claim.
In order to render the present specification more easily intelligible, reference is had to the accompanying drawings, in which similar letters of reference denote similar parts throughout both views.
Figure 1 is a vertical section through the head; and Fig. 2, a plan of the same, partly in section. v
The head consists of the comically-formed body 2, having a cylindrical upper part and an outwardly-bulged cover u, having two or more rows of holes 0 at or near its periphery. The lower end of the body t is in connection with the steam-pipe r. Within the bodyi is mounted the receptacle 1) for the herbs, having a perforated bottom 20 and having cylindrical side walls, the upper edge of which lies within the rows of holes in the cover of the Serial No. 710,521. (No model.)
outer receptacle. The lower edge of the said herb-receptacle fitting down onto the corre sponding diameter of the body if, the steam will be forced to pass through the perforated bottom w of the herb-receptacle, thus pene trating the contents of the same, and finally passing out over the upper edge thereof through the narrow annular space between it and the cover a and then through the rows of orifices in the said cover to the face or other part of the body of the patient to be treated.
I claim as my in vention- A spray-head for impregnating steam with herbs, consisting of a conical bodyt havinga steam-pipe fitted to its lower small end, and having an upwardly-extending cylindrical extension carrying a cover to, said coverubeing provided with rows of orifices at or near its periphery, a seive-bottorn herb-receptacle to fit down onto the corresponding diameter of the conical body, and having cylindrical sides,
the upper edges of said sides lying within the ring of orifices of the cover 16 and close to the inner surface of the said cover in the manner and for the purpose substantially as described.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand in presence of two witnesses.
JULIUS WEZEL. Witnesses:
