IMPROVEMENT IN PLOUGHS.
TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
Be it known that we, WILLIAM ZE LLER-and RICHARD LECHNER, the former of Lebanon county, and the latter of Berks county, and in the State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Ploughsf and do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings,'and to the letters of reference marked thereon.
In the annexed drawings, making part of this specification, A represents the beam, C the land-side, and B the handles of any ordinary plough D 1) represents a rod, which is connected to the beam by means of the loops or staples g g, said rod lying along the lower edge of the beam; this red is jointed as seen at X. To the rearend of the rod is pivoted the lower end of a lever, H; this lever H is also pivoted to one or" the handles of the plough as seen at a. The forward end of the rod D is made broad and slightly concave. This rod has an endwise movement, so that it may be drawn back of and thrust beyond the forward standard which connects the land-side to the beam. The object of this rod is to relieve the plough of weeds and stubble, which collect between the beam and the forward standard of the land-side. By means of the handle H the rod D D is thrust forward to relieve the plough, or drawn back out of the way, said handle being operated by the plouglnnan.

The jointed rod D D, used in combination with the beam, and the handle II, as and for the purpose specified.
