CURTAIN-FIXTURE.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 633,048, dated September 12, 1899.

To all whom it may concern:

Beitknown that I, ANDREW J. SLACK, a citizen of the United States, residing at Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Curtain-Fixtures; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to makeand use the same.

My invention relates to novel improvements in curtain-fixtures; and the object is to provide a simple, inexpensive, and durable as well as convenient and attractive or ornamental device of this character.

To these ends my invention consists in the construction, combination, and arrangement of the several elements of the device, as will be hereinafter more fully described, and particularly pointed out in the claim.

In the accompanying drawings the same reference characters indicate the same parts of my invention.

Figure 1 is a front elevation of my improved curtain-fixture as it appears in use. Fig. 2 is a similar View with the fretwork-panel removed. Fig. 3 is a vertical section on the line 3 3 of Fig. 1. Fig. 4 is a front and Fig. 5 a side elevation of one of the counterpart supporting-brackets. Fig. 6 is a detail View of the split tube, and Fig. 7 is a similar view of the rod and ornamental end pieces.

1 1 denote the supporting-brackets, which are suitably fixed to the frame or casing on opposite sides or above the window or door, and they are each formed with a disk-shaped arm 2, the inner edge of which is provided with a concentric rabbeted recess 3 to receive the encompassing end of the split tube 4. The bracket-arms 2 are also formed with an upwardly-extending radial slot 5 to receive the curtain-rod 6, the threaded ends of which project through the brackets to receive the threaded end pieces 7 7, which in addition to their giving an attractive finish to the fixture also serve as clamping-nuts to bind the rod and sleeve or tube in the brackets. The front face of this split tube or sleeveis also formed with a longitudinal series of T-shaped recesses 8 8 to receive the head of the stud-pins 9 9, fi-xed on the back of the grill of fretwork piece 10 to removably secure it in place. This latter ornamental piece may be used as a screen and made Wide and long enough to entirely conceal the tube or sleeve and brackets, and, of course, the various elements of my invention may be of wood or metal or both, or, in fact, of any material suitable to their manufacture, and while in the accompanying drawings I have illustrated my invention in the form preferred by me various changes in the details might be made by a skilled mechanic without departing from the spirit of my invention.

Having thus fully described my invention and the manner in which the same is to be used, What I claim as new and useful, and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is

In a curtain-fixture, the supporting-brackets formed with the rabbeted arms provided with radial slots,the longitudinal rod threaded at its ends and the clamping-nuts, in combination with the longitudinally-slotted and recessed sleeve, encompassing said rod and secured between said brackets and the ornamental grill or fretwork screen provided with stud-pins, and adapted to be removably secured to said recessed sleeve, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
