SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 629,907, dated August 1, 1899. Application filed February 16, 1899. Serial No. 705,631. (No model.)
.To all whom, it may concern:
Be it known that LCHARLES MORLET,a citi- Zen of the United States of America, residing at Lode, Switzerland, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Spring-Bar-v rel Mechanism for Watches or Clocks,of which the following is a specilicatien.
This invention consists of an improved barrel mechanism. Fig. lbis is a top view of Fig. 1. Fig. 2 shows in cross-section and seen from beneath the ring C of the spring-barrel mechanism shown in Fig. l. Fig. 3 shows in cross-section and seen from beneath the disk or wheel E of the spring-barrel mechanism shown in Fig. l. Fig. 4 is a cross-section of a modification of the improved spring-barrel mechanism. Fig. 5 shows in cross-section and seen from beneath the ring C of the same. Fig. 6 shows in cross-section and seen from beneath the disk E2 of the construction shown in Fig. 4. Fig. 7 is a cross-section of another modification of the improved spring-barrel mechanism. In the several gures of the drawings the same letters of reference refer to the same parts. f
A is the shaft of the spring-barrel mechan-` ism, which is provided with a collar d, made of one piece with the said shaft and provided with a tooth or linger d, Fig. 1m, which is intended to engage the usual stop-wheel F, pivoted to the mainspring-barrel B, in view of limiting the number of revolutions of the said mainspring-barrel with regard to the shaft A. The said stop-wheel F may be of any suitable construction.
The mainspring-barrel B has an inner hub b, in which the shaft A is free and around square portion of the axis A. The opening c' is large enough to have the pin or projection c engaging the same with some play, the purpose of this being to allow the ring 'C to make a slight backward rotation when the mainspring has been wound up. The ring C around the hub b acts like abrake when the mainspring is wound to top.
The disk E/ may be toothed, as shown in Fig. 3, to engage with a winding-wheel of usual construction, or the said disk may be made of the same diameter as the ring C, as shown at E2 in Figs. 4 and 6, orat E3, as shown in Figs. 7 and 9. In these twolatter cases the said disk E2 or E3 is within the mainspringbarrel B, as shown in the Figs. 4 and 7.
In Figs. 4- and 6 the disk E2 is provided with an opening or notch'ez, in which engages the pin c' of the ring C. In Figs. 7 to 9 the ring C is formed with two projections c, engaging 'two corresponding openings c3 of the disk E3.
In the construction shown in Figs. l0 to 12 rthe disk E4 is made of the same diameter as the inner portion of the mainspring-barrel, and it is like a cover to the same, as shown in Fig'.- 10.
I claim asmy invention- The combination with the arborand springbarrel having a hub through which the arbor passes, of a ring around and supported by the,rhuba pin for receiving the end of the spring, a disk connected with the arbor and having an opening therein and a pin on the rring entering such opening, the opening in the disk being of larger diameter than the pin vso that the pin engages with the disk and serves to connect the arbor and disk with the ring and spring, substantially as specified.
