UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
HARRY HUEBNER, OF PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA.
CLOTH ES-LINE REEL.
SPECIFICATION forming part Of Letters Patent NO. 622,855, dated April 11, 1899.
Application filed July 30, 1898. Serial No. 687,269. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HARRY HUEBNER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Clothes- Line Reels, of which the following is aspecification.
My present invention relates to a new and useful improvement in clothes-line reels, and
- has for its object to provide an exceedingly simple, cheap, and effective device upon which a clothes-line may be wound to prevent it becoming entangled or knotted and from which it may be readily unwound when it is desired to secure it in place for use.
A further object of my improved invention is to construct a device of this description entirely of metal, which may be galvanized or otherwise coated so as to prevent corrodin g, and thereby avoid any disadvantage arising from undue expansion or contraction, which sometimes takes place when such devices are of wood.
' With these ends in view this invention consists in the details of construction and combination of elements hereinafter set forth and then specifically designated by the claim.
In order that those skilled in the art to which this invention appertains may understand how to make and use the same, the construction and operation will now be described in detail, referring to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, in which- Figure 1 is a side view of my present improvement, and Fig. 2 an end View thereof.
In carrying out my invention, as shown in the drawings, A represents two side strips,
which may be flattened wire or metal bars cut to the proper length and having four holes formed therein.
thereafter the rope is wound upon the curvedsections, the side strips acting as guides to prevent the displacement of the rope. Thus the rope will be prevented from becoming knotted or entangled and may be stored when not in use and readily unwound when stretched in place for use.
This construction of reel is exceedingly simple and of small cost to manufacture and yet is efi'icient in application.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as newand useful is-- In combination two strips suitably apertured, a combined handle and web, formed of a single piece of metal, looped to form the handle, the ends of the metal being passed through the apertures in one strip then curved down and up, with the extremities lying in the apertures of the opposite strip, as and forthe purpose described.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto affixed my signature in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
HARRY HUEBNER.
