BATH- TUB.
SPEOIFIOATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 621,920, dated March 28 1899;
Application filed August 8, 1898.
T0 to whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FRANK JOHNSON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Seattle, in the county of King and State of Washington, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Bath-Tubs, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the annexed drawings, forming part thereof.
My invention relates to improvements in bath-tubs and the object is to provide means by which the people when bathing may easily and with comfort rub their backs. I attain this object by the means illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is aview of the tub in Whole, and Fig. 2 the cushion-frame.
A denotes the tub, which may be of any suitable size and shape, and B the cushionframe, fashioned to fit the tub and secured to the same by means of screw-clasps E E E.
C denotes a cushion made of sponge or bristles and secured to the plate B by stitches of fine wire, the said plate being nicely fitted against the bottom and sides of the tub.
From this description, taken in connection with the drawings, it will be seen that pleasant results are always realized from the use of my improved bath-tub.

certained both the nature and merit of my invention, I- declare that what I claim is- 1. As an article of manufacture a rubbing attachment for bath-tubs, consisting of a sup porting-plate suitably shaped to fit a portion of the interior of the tub and having an outwardly-projecting flange at its upper edge.
adapted to rest upon and be clamped to the rim of the tub, and having perforations at or near its middle portion, in combination with a cushion of rubbing material secured to the interior surface of the plate by stitches pass ing through said perforations.
2. The combination of a bath-tub with a rubbing attachment therefor, which consists of a supporting-plate suitably shaped to fit a portion of the interior of the tub having an outwardly-projecting flange at its upper edge adapted to rest upon the rim of the tub, and perforations at or near its middle portion, and having a cushion of rubbing material secured to its interior surface by stitches pass ing through said perforations, and with clamps uniting the said flange to the rim of the tub.
