Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Dec. 28,1915.
Application filed December 11, 1914. Serial Ho. 878,681.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, ANTONI TRUCI-IAN, a subject of the Czar of Russia, residing at Flint, in the county of-Grenesee and State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Dresser-Chairs, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in dresser chairs.
The primary object of this invention is to provide a chair having the seat thereof convertible into a form of shaving stand or dressing table, and provided with means for inclosing the desired toilet articles such as a mirror, comb and brush and also a wash basin.
A further object is to provide a chair readily convertible into a dressing table but provided with means for inclosing serviceable articles such as a wash basin, mirror, comb and brush when the device is employed as a chair.
A still further object is to provide a piece of furniture which is cheap and easy to manufacture but which takes the place of two ordinary pieces of furniture in the form of a chair and a dresser, thus saving space in the room where found desirable.
l/Vith these general objects in view and others that will appear as the nature of the invention is better understood, the same consists in the novel combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and pointed out in the appended claim.
In the drawings forming a part of this application and in which like designating characters refer to corresponding parts throughout the several views: Figure l is a perspective view of the device positioned as a dressing table. Fig. 2 is a central transverse vertical sectional view thereof partially broken away and with the device positioned as a chair, and Fig. 3 is a similar sectional view taken upon a plane at right angles to the line of section of Fig. 2 but with the device positioned as a dressing table.
Referring more in detail to the drawings, there is provided a chair having the usual supporting legs 10 and a back 11 while a chair seat 12 is hinged along its rear edge as at 13 to a rectangular seat frame 14: which is mounted upon the said legs. A wash basin 15 is removably positioned within a central circular opening 16 of the frame it, while the surrounding upper portion of the said frame is hollowed out forming a chamber 17 with the marginal edge 18 of the frame adapted to support the seat 12 after the manner of a lid. The inner under surface 19 of the lid 12 is provided with a hinged mirror 20 having an adjustable brace 21 and also with a comb holder 22, a soap holder 28, a brush holder 24 and any other desired articles such as a cup-shaped holder 25. It will thus be seen that when the seat 12 is in its open position as illustrated in Figs. 1 and 3, the wash basin is ready for use while the mirror and the other toilet articles are easily accessible but when the seat 12 is closed all of the said articles are inclosed within the frame chamber 17. A towel rack or rod 26 is provided at one end of the frame which is protected beneath the projecting edge of the seat 12 when such seat is closed. A recess 27 is provided in the frame adjacent the central opening 16 thereof which may be employed for soap or for receiving lather during the operation of shaving. A look 28 is provided forwardly of the frame and whereby the seat may be retained closed with the device employable as a chair.
While the form of the invention herein shown and described is what is believed to be the preferable embodiment thereof, it is nevertheless to be understood that minor changes may be made in the form, proportion and details of construction without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as set forth in the appended claim.
What I claim as new is The combination with a set of supporting legs, of a top supported on said legs and whereby When the lid is raised it may be the top positioned beneath the lid When the rested in raised position against the back, lid is in closed position. 10 said lid projecting over both sides of the top In testimony whereof I aflix my signature whereby to protect and shelter articles at in presence of two witnesses.
5 tached to said sides, the said article holding ANTONI TRUCHAN.
devices carried by the lid being received in Witnesses: the recess and opening in the top, and a CLARA Z. BUELL, roller carried by one of the side edges of W. E. McINNEs.
