TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN: i t
Be it known that I, EBENEZER CURTIGE, of Yonkers, in the county of Westchester, in the State of New York, have made an invention to apply to Hymn and Tune-Books ,I and I do hereby declare that the following is a. full and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon.
5 This invention consists in applying to books made with the leaves out in two transversely, between the hymns and tunes, as shown by the diagrams, in which the lines markedf show where the leaves are out in two, the tunes being printed on the parts marked a, and hymns' on the parts marked b, the whole leaves c intervening di'erent parts of the book for the purposetof separating the different metres. The leaves marked c, fig. l, show some of the intervening whole leaves. Also in applying a holder to the book for the purpose of keeping the eut leaves open and in place while the book is in` use. Theholder, in the accompanying drawing, is the piece of` binding or braid, d, with the tin slide e on it, and is attached at the top of the book. It can be made of any other suitable material. What I claim as my invention, and for which I Wish to secure Letters Patent, is-
1. In singing-Hooks, having their leaves cut as herein described, the use of wholeleaves intervening the cnt leaves, for the purpose mentioned herein.
2. The application of a holder, in the manner and fo'r the purpose herein specified.
