SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 617,689, dated January 10, 1899.

To (all whom, it may concern:

Be it known that I, HENRY M. MINNIS, a citizen of the United States, residing at WVylie, in the county of Collin and State of Texas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Medical Clock-Shelves, of which'the following is a specification.

My invention relates to a shelf adapted for supporting clocks and provided with apartments for holding medicine and also provided with dials for indicating purposes; and which consists in the combination of devices hereinafter fully described, and pointed out in the claims.

Reference is had to the accompanying drawin gs, forming a part of this specification.

Figure 1 is a front elevation of the invention. Fig. 2 is a side elevation. Fig. 3 is a front elevation with the lid to one apartment open. Fig. 4 is a horizontal section on line a: of Fig. 1.

Similar characters indicate corresponding parts throughout the several views.

The letter A indicates a shelf mounted on supports B B. A back 0 is attached to supports B B. Shelf A rests on back 0. Under shelf A and between supports or uprights B B are two or more apartments. Apartment D is closed in Fig. l and open in Fig. 2. The lid E is hinged to apartment D in any suitable way, as by hinges a and b. The door E may be held closed in any suitable way, as by a bolt F, having a latch 0. Apartment D is provided with partitions G, forming a number of pockets or boxes 9 for holding bottles of medicine. The apartment D is not closed. Above each bOX g is a dial 7b, which is similar to the dials of clocks. Each dial is provided with an indicator h. The lid E may be held in a horizontal position by means of a folding hinged bracket H.

vases, &c. The apartments D and D will hold bottles and packages and boxes of medicine. Indicators on the dials can be set to show when the particular medicine is to be given. .The lid E may serve as a shelf when in the position shown in Fig. 3. The dials may be mounted on boards of slate, on which can be written names of medicine.

The shelves may be made as ornamental as desirable and the finish can be made to match furniture or the trimmings of the rooms in which the shelves are to be mounted.

Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

1. The combination of a shelf for supporting clocks and other articles, supports for said shelf, an apartment divided into pockets and held between said supports, a dial provided with an indicator mounted above each pocket in said apartment, and a lid for said apartment provided with a folding bracket whereby said lid is adapted for use as a shelf when the contents of said pockets are to be used.

2. The combination of a shelf for supporting clocks and other articles, supports for said shelf comprising a back and two side pieces, apartments formed between and supported by said supports, the upper apartment being divided into pockets and provided with a lid, a dial provided with an indicator and mounted above each pocket, said lid having a folding bracket whereby said lid is adapted for use as a shelf when the contents of said pockets are to be used.
